I'm looking for the best bang for my buck in guides on the Sandy and Clackamas. Anyone have any input?

David Johnson (http://www.davidjohnsonfishing.com) is one of the iFish.com supporting guides, and spends a large amount of time on the Clackamas River and has a very good reputation.

I fished with David Johnson Wednesday and would not hesitate to refer him for the clack. Great guide and a great guy give him a try.

i agree, dollar well spent on Dave. i have never fished with him but from seeing him on the river he is a hard working fisherman who can catch fish even when others aren't.
on the Sandy i would look at Jack Glass of Jack's Snack and Tackle.
good luck and have fun.

Dave Johnson on the Clack
Jack Glass on the Sandy
They OWN their respective rivers.

Both Jack and Dave are great guides. If the dates you have in mind don't work with their schedules there are other guides as well that can show you a good time.

Trevor Storlie (Red's Guide Service) lives on the Sandy River at Gordon Creek. Mark Bachman out of the fly fishing shop in Welches, for fly trips on Sandy.

I see David Johnson on the Clack. and he is hands down the best. I've said it many times I have found him very knowlegable, and fun while catching fish for his clients, he also doesn't act like some guides thinking it's His river and he's letting us use it.
Trever Stolie of Reds Guide Service is another good one.
And Ifish's Catch 22 is very friendly and experienced.

Skunked-
David Johnson and Len Self are two very good guides on the Clack. They are both Ifish guides as well. I'd hate to step on the toes of those ( nice rhyme) that provide this site for our entertainment.
If they cannot accomodate you and your friend, I'm sure that we would be able to work something out. Oh yeah, You've Got Mail

A little testimonial from FishHunter last sunday during the Steelhead Challege ( he fished with Talons on day 1). Can you say ClackaChrome ? We got two that day, I believe the only winters I heard of for Sunday. It's not outstanding fishing, but they do bite......

That's the fish I had to battle thru a floating Christmas tree and over 15 other bankie lines
I think that was a fifteen minute fish, in fact I know it was  15 minutes there....fish on ! Plunking a spin-glo and scent.
Happy fishing,
Chris

Fellas - I edited phone numbers and links for non-ifish guides. Those who sponsor on ifish pay for the opportunity to have their contact information listed. It would be a disservice to them to list others contact information for free.
I am sure that all the guides mentioned are quality guys who catch fish. If you would like to contact one of the guides who do not sponsor ifish you may contact the person who referred them by e-mail or private message to obtain contact information.
Tight lines!

When I go with David he lets me add a little color to the river banks. We even get into who can hang the most corkies and bobbers contests.
I can testify that David is a great guy to be around. An expert fisherman and cool headed. All great qualities that a guide should have on the Clackamas or any river. He even lets you bring bananas on the boat. Just leave the KFC at home. :hoboy:
BTW, I'll pay ya if you can beat his egg cure out of him.
