80lb tuff+ which is a better version of 50lb tuff AND powerpro  Also, there's plenty of good stren lines out there and none of it is blue
BPB, where's your favorite boober fishing haunts??

Tuf Line XP in yellow 30lb test = to 8lb mono.

Sturgeon Tom......yeah, but nobody fishes TB or Bobbers with 30# Tuff or Power Pro. At least 50#.....cause even that's thinner than most mono you'd throw at em. A lot of guys go as high as 80# and get away fine with it.

Can I get 30 pound Tuf Line in green?
Don't want that white stuff or yellow, want green.

30 is too light and too thin, unlike Stren,
80 is too thick but 50 will do the trick.

Either Tuf or Power Pro get rave reviews.50 is right.
Maxima leaders(duh).
Use that leftover stren for sinker droppers while trolling spinners.
To prove how great Max is (and Stren is not) I tied 15 Max Chameleon to a swivel. To the other end of the swivel I tied 17 stren( the blue stuff that I had leftover from spinner trolling) and pulled til one broke. I did this twice. Max won both times. I laughed out loud. Oh yeah, if you want to try this at home, wrap the line around something so it does not dig into your hand.
Then I tried a real test- I tied 20 feet of Maxima to a Kenworth, and pulled doubles over Mt. Hood with it.Loaded. With concrete. 45' cans. Uphill both ways.
I did do the first test. Really.
Hows that Roland? ...er I mean Hogmaster!??

Now look what you all have done!
Bend Pole Bender is sending me messages wondering what I have against Power Pro or Tuff line!
No, BPB, I have nothing against either and in fact have PP 35 on a new reel, Tuff 50 on two others and Tuff 80 on two sturgeon outfits.
The references I am being unmercilessly chastized about are to the fact that I have been known to have used 17 or 20 lb Stren MAGNA THIN on some of my reels for salmon. Really good stuff. Not like that cheap Stren stuff. I used the blue 14 pound leader for dropper when back bouncing a few times.
For a test I tied the 20 pound to the front bumper of my Tahoe and reeled it across the driveway. Didn't break.
Then I took the air out of the tires and relled it back. Then I took the wheels off and pulled it again.
Then I threaded it down 150 linear feet of hedge and reeled the Tahoe clean though it.
I'm sure Maxima is better though.

50lb Tuf, the black and white stuff....Powerpro on steroids! Tried the 80lb. Like the 50 better. Casts better.
Save the Stren for pullin Tahoes! (and stay away from boobers, they will get you in trouble).

I can't believe you pulled your rig thru the hedge! Did it get all scratched up and stuff?
Is your wife mad, or has she not seen the hedge? When you do your "Testing" does Maxine the smelt eating wonder dog hide in a corner and whine?
We are just trying to help you Hog.I think it is very touching that all of these folks are trying to help you. They are reaching out to you.
Are you still with us Hog?
Mark and the caring dog, who just wants you to get thru this experimenting phase and come home.

Mark -
As far as the hedge goes, can't hardly tell. Ever since I kept throwing the ashes from the smoker under it last summer and then got up the next morning to, "Honey, you might want to take a look at the hedge. It seems to be on fire." There are no surprises anymore.
Ooooops! graemlins/dork.gif Most all the brown krinkled and dry leaves have fallen off by now anyway. And that corner was tough to get the boat past anyway...
The MAGNA THIN test just allowed me to shape it a little with the rig so when it grows back it will be even!
Maxine just guards the boat when I do stuff like that. She will not let anything jeopardize her meal ticket!
Fortunately I listen well. After cutting out the rats nest I am getting that one reel spooled with a Maxima of some sort so I can get in your boat for the challenge.
I did get a call from the audobon society though, expressing disapointment as they were counting on having a few more pre-built heron platforms to be placed before spring...
Mel, I knew somebody would go there sooner or later.

Tuf Line XP seems to be the stoutest of the spectra line, causing least rod wraps and tangles in general. Go with 50# or higher to prevent line dig, and remember to spool it tight and over some monofilaments, else it will slip on the spool itself.

People acutally catch salmon on bobbers
Ok OK, I prefer the 80 lb tuff, power pro is starting to work it's way up my list. The 50 Tuff is fine but you have to be more careful about how tight the line winds on the spool. A big pig making a screaming run with the 50 can dig into the spool. We lost a nice fish on the Keni this summer due to just that, and I have seen fish lost in Wilson TW on 50. Don't have that trouble with the 80 and it lasts and lasts. I have one reel with 7 yr old 80 tuff and it still fishes fine. My 0.02 worth........FB

I have always used Tuff and TuffPlus in #50.
This past week I spooled up a couple reels with #24 Spiderwire Fusion. Never used it before but it is a super braid that appears to be coated or waxed to give it more of the characteristics of mono. I haven't got it wet yet, but plan on using it for plugs and 'D n' B' riggin's. I do like the fact that it knots well and does not cling to the guides like many of the spectra lines do.
I like to try a new line or two every year, just for fun. I am basically Maxima Chameleon and TufLine faithful when things get serious.
Any experience with Fusion?

I use 80lb Whiplash with 40lb leader and a 7/0 owner for bobber fishing. It floats nice and it's nice to bring back your set-up when you hook some of the logs/trees in the water.
Good luck.

I use 65lb power-pro and 40lb leader. Many a chinook lost this fall to that set-up.
