I think you'd save a lot of money just buying a fishing pole. graemlins/eek13.gif I don't know what you could do to that bike to make it catch fish, but let us know if you figure it out!

If you don't mind going out of town, take your bike to the Bike Gallery in Beaverton. I have bought a bike from them and have them do all my work. Iy is about a 7 mile ride out to the S Jetty. I have ridden it several times, and it isn't to bad of a ride. Some of my co-workers go out there to fish and say they do fairly well. Not as much pressure as at barview.

C & M- That South Jetty was Rocking this week-end and I did see some people out there . The tide was too high and waves too big for me to be out there loosing gear on the rocks.I was on the Barview side looking at waves and high tides. I know what you mean that south jetty is awesome for fishing! Yes, the best way to get to it is biking as I have hiked it before and it takes time and if your packing fish gear. Have you ever boated over to Crab Harbor and walked up or walked up the South Beach?
What are you meaning refurbish the mt biike? Tune up or replace chain, cables, and tires? If so are you doing it or wanting it to be done?
My recommendation is to look at the overall big picture of the bike is it a great bike or a so-so bike. A so-so bike can be replaced with a new bike for about as much $$ as all the time and money you put in to it. Catch a sale at GI Joes , go to a bike shop, or cruise the ads in the Oregonian. IF it is a great bike, (from personal experience) then there is one bike shop in Tillamook and a couple in Seaside & Astoria(but these shops dont always have everything). The best (honest and cheapest) place to buy parts (new or used) for do it yourself or have them do it is City Bikes in Ptld. 1934 SE Ankeny. Usually about a week out for repair maybe less this time of year.
What kind of fishing Mt Bike do you have? Mine is a Bianchi.

We needed sunglasses today on the south jetty hike we did. There was a warm east wind blowing and it felt like we were in CA. I want to take our mountain bikes out to the end, its too much of a walk for us old folks. Biking it makes more sence.

We're going crabbing in the morning at Netarts Bay. Hope we get some crabs, with this nice weather, crabs should be in thick.
I will let you all know how we did when we get back.

What a nice shot of Tilla Bay. Reminds me of last summer when I rode my bike out there with my daughter (named Jenny, your daughters friend from high school). It was a fun day there last year on the jetty. I drove past Netarts Bay on Sun. and there were a ton of boats out there. Good Luck!

Jenny, thanks for reminding us flatlanders in the valley, that the sun shines at the coast too. Nice pricture so I thought for a change I would set it as my wallpaper. I'll drool for a couple weeks about the coast and wish I had been there.

When you say refurbish, what exactly do you mean?
Is there a specific problem or are you looking to get a general tune-up? Most bike shops will do a tune-up for about $40 to $50, which includes trueing wheels, adjusting brakes, derailurers, lubing chain and cables, etc. If you need the headset and bottom bracket bearings relubed, it might cost a little more.

I think its actually under 5 miles out there - but it seems like 7. My experience is it's hit and miss. Chuckdog and I used to fish it a couple times a year, sometimes doing well, sometimes not. Nice lings if you hit the right time!

Marie,
Now I know why your shop is never open when I get there (six occassions). It's because you like to fish and crab and enjoy the beach on nice days more than you like selling bait and scent.
Truly a beautiful picture. How much above 60 degrees did it get?
