I have a 10 1/2 foot graphite blank that I would like to have built.

Can any of you ifishers recommend a reputable rod builder in the PDX metro area ?

Hi Pearl,

Any chance you would be interested in building it yourself? It's not that hard. I built my first one about a month ago and getting ready to do another. It's alot of fun as well as gettting to customize yourself. Do talk to Bait of eggs. He know all the ins and outs of it.

Yeah, I agree that building it yourself would be a good option. However, you get better at rodbuilding as you gain experience, so you might want to first build a 'snoopy rod' first before embarking on your favorite rod.

BTW where did you get a blank that length? Do you know where I can get a quality graphite blank in 11 to 12 ft. range (no noodle rod stuff)?

I recommend Jerry Bouyear of The Rod Shop. He's just a small one man business who builds terrific rods.

Brian at Mt. Hood Custom Rods in Estacada. I've got a few rods done form him and I like his work.

Trophy,

ISA1355F 11'3" 2 10-25 5/8-2 1/2 .705 5.0 Mod Med/Hvy
ISA1446F 12' 2 15-30 3/4-3 .700 5.5 Mod Hvy

Are those what you're looking for. If so, these are Rainshadow blanks. I've got a 1446 on my wish list prior to the fraser in August next year.

BOE gives classes and also builds rods or you could check with Gary over at Great American Tackle I know he also does classes, not sure if he is building rods or not.You could check with both of them on a price for both a class and to have it built. Anglers workshop does nice work but they are spendy. Like mentioned before Mt. Hood Custom rods are nice also. You could probably ship it down to TH also and have him build it. Plenty of options

I just picked up a new power wrapper. Get the parts you need from Bait 'o Eggs and I will build it for you for material cost as long as you are not looking for decorative butt wraps.

I have done several in the last few weeks and no complaints!

Okay, Okay, If Mr. Crabbait will wrap it for you, I'll do the fancy butt wrap for you. Just don't expect much. Also don't let me scribble on it for you and you'll be alright. I'll also need the disclaimer here Mr. Crabbait.

I can use the practice. Check out the pics. Remember this is my first attempt at rod building. But very very pleased with the outcome.

Ramstrong,

Yeah, those specifications are just what I'm looking for. Do you have the prices for them?

I'm planning on using the long rod for saltwater application, but sounds like you're in it for freshwater use. Tell me why you need something so long for freshwater?

novice, those rods are straight from the Rainshadow web page. I'm sure you could get it from either BOE or TH. They both do rainshadow. Those are canadian salmon rods. Perfect for bouncing on the Fraser.

Looks like we've got quite a few aspiring rod builders here.

Novice appears again... yet I never get an email!

What's up...

I tried to take a pic of Bryan's new rod (purple w/ gold inlay, you know once a pirate always a pirate.) .. he has completed his 6 week paternal leave and wants to fish..
pick a weekend that is good for you and we'll set it up! My treat!
Anyway.. redoing the website this week.. since there is little fishing.. Look for his picture..

The WF of the Millicoma has been good to us...! It has been an early morning fishery as of late? Not sure why, since there is plenty of color and H2O.

Talk to you later Bob.

Nice butt Zac
how in the word do your rod pics turn out?
