FEAR NO FISH!
01-01-2003, 03:51 PM
I made mt last trip to McNary for the season. I fished from 1800 hrs to 2200 hrs.
Hooked and landed the 160th and 161st steelhead of the Steely season. I promised momma that I would be home for the stroke of midnight or I would have stayed longer.
Sure had a lot of fun this year. Lighted Kwikfish ROCK! Headed perching in the morning. Cmon Springer season!

I've followed a number of your posts on McNary. You really have that fisher dialed in. I'll try some of your techniques closer to home. See what kind of results I can get.
So where do you fish perch this time of year?

It is a zipperlip lake that starts with an S and ends with an A. 4 letters and has something to do with carbonation. It is right before you get to Osullivan reservoir. Look for the boat that is yarding them in!

Just when are you using the lighted k-fish?, and what size I would like to try them here. Any help would be appreciated.

"Roger," on the S--a Lake. When I think perch, ocean beaches come to mind. "Sock it to them."

Steve, when the springers come on are you doing the same thing? - lighted kwikfish at night above the dam? Or are you fishing below the dam?

There is a night closure on the Springers
at the Wind River. We did try the lighted
Kwickies at the deadline at McNary, below
the Dam. We didn't get a hook up. I don't
think Springers bite that well at night.
Further research is in order!
Two trips so far this year at Scootney
have produced well. The boy and I will be
at S__a Lake in the early am tomorrow.
Perch beware! Team Swedish Pimple is on
the warpath! Now if we could get their
Bikini team onboard...

last trip of the year FNF? aw come on you have to beat the 163 from last year. if you can get 2-3 a night it might be worth a few more trips. it must be getting nasty up there at nights now.
thanks for the tip on the uv led. i found a handheld for 25$ that is actually a blacklight. now will this work for both the new glo and the old glo? also what kind of glow do they put on the corkies? take care.

Steve, I agree that it'd be a shame not to break last year's record catch, but then again we're not the ones freezing our butts off out there. graemlins/program.gif Whatever, the reports you've been providing are always entertaining and appreciated. graemlins/applause.gif
By the way, thanks for the info you provided me in email. Looking forward to getting some of the new glo and trying that out.
Looking forward to this spring and some quality time out on the river below McNary for 'eyes, bass and springers.
Do you do any/much summer fishing for sturgies below the dam?

Gotta let some of those steelhead get upriver. Perching may sound silly to you fanatics but heck I just love the way they taste. I love anything that will pull on my rod! We downsize for the perch and man can they put a bend in a 2-8 pound rated rod.
Born to fish,
I can see we are gonna go head to head. You poor Packers fan. We are died in the wool Viking fans. We bleed PURPLE!
