I was watching CNN and they had a segment on Nano Technology, which is supposed to revolutionize space age material technology. This material is said to have five times the strength of current graphite but weighs only sixth of it. They were showing tennis racquets using the technology, but I would assume that this same technology could be implemented in fishing rods and perhaps even in return to lighter graphite reels. This is just another reminder that my investment in 60+ rods wasn't very smart. They're coming out with better, and often cheaper, stuff all the time. So, I look forward to when this technology is incorporated into fishing rods.

UL,

I think I saw this in fly rods already, I believe in the Redington line.

ex-tex, I think you're right. Redington's Nano-Titanium and Quartz series fly rods seem to incorporate this technology, but all priced above $600 a piece. Yikes!

The price is is a pretty discouraging sign of this technology in fishing rods, but I would still like to see non-fly rods with this technology.
