We tried dipping today at the launch ramp near the hwy with no results.Spent about 20 min dipping nothing.
There was a Subaru Outback with a smelt net tied to the top of it at the Hayden Meadows GI Joes this afternoon, does that mean any thing??

The smelt were in a few days ago but it was a pilot run. I went up there today and nothing. The commercial guys are getting them in the CR. I would bet they will be back in the next few days with the water staying up. They should have them for sale in stores shortly. I got some of them Jan. 4th last year and am guessing they will be back by then this year. I need some fresh stuff for Friday and Sunday.

Hi There,
That was my Subaru with the net tied to the top. I used it for about 15minutes under the bridge today at Longview and got zip. Other people there got zip as well.

I have been seeing signs of smelt in the columbia. seals and sea lions clear up to bonneville dam, birds working at k point and some rumors of smelt in the cowlitz. I believe the washington streams opened today for dipping. so lets have some first hand reports. I need bait.
