What a great way to end the year. I wanted to upload pictures but it is not working for me... graemlins/eek13.gif
Oh ya back to the report. Got out on the water just after day light with Cracker Joe. 15 min in I get a nice fat 44" fish. After a nice fight I put him back in the water to fight another day. Crakcer Joe managed a 46.5" fattie that he kept. Each of us had over 20 fish to the boat, many of the shakers were over 36". We also missed about 100 other strikes. I am sure they were all dinks graemlins/1zhelp.gif The fishing was good all the way through the incoming.
We went through all of our bait by the end of the day. Got a nice pic of two bald eagles that decided to land in a tree and watch us fish for while too.
We fished below Kelly Point in about 61 feet of water. Smelt and sand shrimp were the main meal ticket. The W is pumping mud, sticks, logs, logs with root balls as well as many other nasty items. If you are running the W with a prop take it easy. If you anchor below watch out for the floating parade. I DO think that mud makes the fishing much, much better!
I did notice a LOT of diving birds picking off little silvery fish (smelt?) on about every dive. They were too far away to see what they were for sure. A LOT of seagulls were also working the area. There were also several large, silver sided fish jumping/rolling from time to time. I wonder what they are????
I might be able to get back out there tomorrow.
It was a great year for me and I hope it was for you too! Here is to an even better 2003!
