I have floated Carver to Riverside several times and know it well. My ? arises from the last few trips down that have taken their toll on my drifter's coat it.... I have always taken the right side around the 1st riffle below carver and have bumped maybe once but the last few times down I have bumped HARD even hanging up Big Time on Christmas eve. I know the H20 has been low but didn't think it was that low now.... Do you all take the right side or is the left or South side better....
The drift their has been uneventful but that first drift lately has been different. Any others having dredge problems.
And I don't believe what NO Luck says that there is too much Junk in the Boat now....Ha Ha

Always take the left side and stay close to the island in the riffle.

The left side is correct side to go down. But you to make sure that you get into the seam where the water creates rollers.

Trust me, the LEFT side going down river. If you go 20 feet from the bank on the right side, you will be ON the island.

Usually I Get close to that log thats been there for a long time and let it take me through. I fished to long on the left bank of the clay and I just couldn't make it back to the slot. May just be my neglect and fishin too long to get set up for the drift??????
Thanks

left side about 5' from the island. Very small chute there. Some times I need to come thru there on my side in the jet. 11.5 is the lowest I'll run but I run a jet now. I heard of 1 brite fish today above Carver

Yup, always left. I saw a sled bite it last Spring in the right channel going up.
Today I got to watch a good one too. I was in the driftboat and parked it at the top of the island below Barton and walked down to fish the right channel down aways and heard a motor, big sled coming down.
He dropped into the chute and slammed into some rocks, spun around, hit the bank, lots of cussing but he got it pointed upstream and powered up before hitting the shale.
It sounded like his pump sucked up some rocks and he gave us a sheepish look as he motored through our drift to park below and check his motor.
We passed them at the Slab Hole and the driver apologized for messing up our drift, a nice gesture for sure. I don't think they scared any fish away. Did make for some good entertainment though and no one got hurt.
As far as bumping rocks in the driftboat today it was clear sailing from FH except for the drop after the second riffle, BAM BAM BAM!!! If you float it, you will bang in there, make sure your rods are tucked away or set over on the right side of the boat or the rod eatin' willows will get ya'!!!

Take the left side, and closing your eyes helps a bit!
