Ok I'm a newbie, but I have fished most of the U.S., the last year out here.
I have extesive knowledge of walleye fishing on the Great Lakes, and Minnesota, as well as ice fishing. I have lately been into steelhead fishing, and have been successful. I have trout fished , with success in Wyoming, Montana, and out here, so I'm not a total ididot. My tale is this. When you ice fish, you drop a weight into your hole to check the depth, and set your lure. A few years ago I did this, and upon my retreival, I encountered much resistance and landed an eelpout, which is half fish, half eel, and to everyone I have talked to, has never been done before. Also I am one of the lucky ones who caught a steelhead on my second cast ever on the Wilson River, with a black panther martin spinner, and I thought this is too easy, I must be fishing illegally, but later found out it was beginners luck. Lately I have fished the East Fork Lewis, and have had success with jig and float, though the fish have been dark. I enjoy the sight, and look forward to fishing with and meeting you all.
