View Full Version : Broken Lamiglas Rod Question
I broke my Lamiglas G1313-T rod while landing this nice Sandy River Winter Steelhead this past saturday morning. I set the hook and the rod snapped the upper section right above where it slides into the lower section. I didn't set the hook like i was trying to rip the fish's lips off or anything crazy, it just snapped. I purchased the rod in May of 2002 at Ollie Damons in Portland. I was wondering if i should try to return it to Ollie Damons or bring it back to Lamiglas in Woodland, WA? Anyone had any luck getting them to replace a rod section or the entire rod?
Thanks,
Jbug

From what it sounds like, the top section was not completely placed into the lower section of the rod. The top section probably could have gone in another half an inch or so. (I did this to a IM-7 rod on a hook set and snapped it in the same place) An air pocket can build between the 2 pieces, causing a gap. I always make sure that both pieces of my rods are completely in, by turning and twisting them together.
My experience with Lamiglas in Woodland has always been awesome. They are great people to deal with. I have exchanged a few rods with Lamiglas, getting both replacement rods and/or a needed pieces. I think it all comes down to what they have "on hand", if you get a completely new rod or a top piece.

That rod you got was most likely a second. I could be wrong but it could have been a second. Take it to woodland down to the lamiglas shop and have them replace it. If it a G1000 model they should replace it for free.

Jbug; Kingfisher85 is right. The one problem is if it is a second. Lamiglass return policy is that all rods broken most be returned to the factory for warranty issues. I would go to the factory, you might even find yourself a new rod.

Take it to Woodland they will most likely take care of it.

I have never had a problem with lamiglas replacing a pole. I have only broke 2 but both times John Gray (if he's still there) took care of it no questions asked.
If you don't know where they are exactly Take I5 north to the first Woodland Exit. Go strait across at the light. They're on the right about 10 blocks.
Check out the bargins in the showroom as well.

Oh ya everyone. Lamiglas down in woodland is having an end of the year sale. So get down there and pick up some new rods. They did have some really nice G200 model fly rods with nice fly reels for 110 bucks.
