All those things are nice I am sure, but what I received for Christmas, I already had and it can't be purchased at a store.
My wife and I received a phone call about 1:00 AM this morning, notifying us that our son Justin (19) had been hit by a drunk driver. He was stopped at a red light about a mile from our home, when he was hit from behind at about 50mph. He was alone in the car, and was immediatley helped by fellow motorists. As he regained his senses, he and another motorist, went back to check on the person who hit him. The driver was totally drunk, and backed his heavily damaged car up, and took off in the oncoming lane. He made it about 200 yards, and slammed head on into another unsuspecting car. Those people were not as lucky as our son. They were removed on stretchers, by ambulance. The drunk driver was captured at the head on, and will be charged with DUI, assault and hit and run. Justin is sore today but safe. We don't now how the people who were taken away by ambulance are, but hope they recover fully.
Thank you to the motorists who stopped to help our son, as well as the Beaverton Police and Fire Department. Mostly, thank you God for leaving are son with us. Please don't drink and drive.
Merry Christmas

Fishisabonus? If you really can't do well with a casting reel, it is my goal to teach you.
You will love it!!! And I, knowing how frustrating it can be to learn, will be patient until you get it! YES!!! I want to go fishing!!!
...and if you hate casting reels, we'll just go jig fishing!

Spooled,
Glad to hear your son is allright. They should charge you with an attempted manslaughter if you hit someone while intoxicated. Gettting a DUII or hit & run isn't enough.
Present
My wife arranged for my mom, inlaws & her (& son) to get an Anglers Workshop Rod building Kit and wrapping and drying units. (http://www.distantwaters.com/onlstore_aw/aw_displayitem.asp?cnum=RBK&dis=636864)

Spooled,
I can testify as much if not more than anyone right now about the blessings and miracles we receive concerning our children. The best thing I could have, I was reminded of all day.. my beautiful little girl teasing her big cousins, wearing her new toe socks and wiggleing her toes. When you been thru a year like I have, most people take toe wiggles for granted.. not this girl, not anymore.
I am so happy your son had his angels protecting him last night.
I feel like I had been given so very, very much already this year. But to see what a wonderful son I also have, to know exactly what I wanted and sneak around and get it for me!
May God's love and the Christmas spirit bless all of you thru out the year!

Spooled, glad your son is OK and hope the folks in the other car are alright too. We are far too easy on drunk drivers.
Among other things, I got a new 8-12 IM7 and a sweet little Curado BSF spooled with 10# Power Pro, a new fishing vest, and some fishing related stocking stuffers. Life is good!

Boy was I spoiled!!!!!!!!! I got a guided fishing trip of my choice, a new GL2 9' 10-30 salmon rod, a new fishing vest(the old one got sardine sent dumped on it) and $135 for Fisherman's. Then I also got a new Forschner filet knife.
Nothing is as good as spending the holidays with family and friends and getting to watch my little man crawl around and put a smile on everyones face. That is PRICELESS and IRREPLACEABLE.
I guess you could say I'm a spoiled brat. I don't know what I did to deserve this but I sure hope I can remember for next year!
Hope everyone had a safe and happy christmas.
Later, WW

I'm having a very nice Christmas. I got a 10hp outboard for my zodiac, my '03 SportsPac license, a new fanny-pack, and a vision of Hannah wiggling her toes.
I got to laugh with my wife and play with my dog and dream of tomorrow. It's a good way to end the year, and a good way to start the new one.
Spooled, many emotions went through my head as I read about your son. I'm so glad everything is okay.

Did you know that if thu drunk would have gotten away he would be in a lot less trouble even if they caught him say a hour latter at home . His lawyer would say he was distraught after what he did and began drinking when he got home . Just anouther strange way the law works around here. I beleive due to pressure put on by MAD & outher similar groups the drunk driving accident is a worse penalty than hit and run.

Troy, glad Justin is okay. Hope the other folks will be alright. Drinking and driving, people can be so stupid.
Okay, I got a lump of coal......... :depressed: just kidding. I did not request anything special as to fishing gear. I did get a nice hard bound book by Patrick Mc Mannis that is just too funny. Lots of new shirts and a pair of Salmon socks. Printed Salmon socks that is.
The best thing I got was to watch my 3 year old boy really enjoy Christmas this year. He really got into it. I made him the official Present delievery boy. That really made him happy  My other two children 10 and 14 still enjoy the surprises of presents. Just something special about the first time a little person really gets into Christmas. Loved it.
I guess you could say that the best present for me is that my dad is still around. About lost him around thanksgiving. He is still not out of the woods yet. Still having lots of pain but he is still here. For that I am thankful.
I got a Cannon A 40 digital camera from my wife and daughter. In the afternoon I went to my folks for presents and dinner, and Mom & Dad gave me a Fujifilm Finepix 2650. Then I got these really cool hooks from ifish! What a year...

I was gonna brag about the new boat top I am getting but Spooled really just put things into perspective. I thank God that your son is OK and I pray to God that that the other folks come out OK.
I really hope they throw the the book at this guy and he serves some serious time. I know people that have gotten DUI's and not long after they get their driving priveleges back, they are back at it.

Spooled,
Sounds like you definitely got the best gift of all.
Hopefully the authorities do the right thing with the graemlins/dork.gif
As for me, I got a new TH 1084 and a Calcutta 251 to use with it and so far in 3 trips I've managed to hook fish every trip.
Life is good.

Dang Spooled, that is a scary way to start the holiday. Glad to hear that your son is doing alright.
Everyone is right, that is something that really puts the holidays into perspective. Family is what is important, the rest really doesn't matter.
But I still gotta brag a little bit. My fiance/santa was very good to me.
I didn't get anything fishing related, but I did get some other really cool stuff.
Biggest thing was getting my Delta table saw that I have been wanting for quite awhile. Talk about being a big kid at Christmas!!! Hmmm, can't afford to buy a boat right now, maybe I can just build one! graemlins/idea.gif
Oh yea, got me a new Tonka dump truck too!!
I may have to grow old but I don't have to grow up. Its fun being one of the kids. Haven't got to do that for almost 30 years.

$55 for Fisherman's
another fillet glove
What a haul!!
Spooled,
