Anybody fished the Grande Rhonde recently or heard any reports? Thinking about doing a trip in the next couple weeks.

Thanks.

I used to live and fish over their just a short while back. I have a few sources and one that I stay in contact with metioned that the fish he has been taking have been down in Troy.

I send him cured eggs and he hooks me up with Elk meat.

They are begging for the rain to improve the river levels and push them fish out of the snake. He has been catching his on a bobber and eggs.

corrirod- I fish the Grande Ronde pretty regularly, but usually upriver from Troy near Rondowa. Troy is usually pretty good around this time of year, but it has been very cold over here lately, which often means there will be flowing ice on the river. Troy would be the place to go if you are heading this way, however. The upriver spots are not that productive until early February most years.

Have fun...

You probably could float from Palmer Junction down to Troy right now without any problems, but I doubt that you could easily float any part of the Wallowa this time of year. It is flowing about 350 cfs right now below Minam. Troy is probably pretty good right now if the ice is not too bad.

Thanks for the info. I wondered if it might be a little early yet. I fished it a couple winters ago in late January and did pretty good but I thought maybe it would be better in December.

I'd really like to float that stretch that has no road access, I can't think of the name right now but I believe the put in is on the Wallowa River and you float down to Troy. We wanted to do that float the last time too but the water was too low then also.
