Yep I was the only stupid boater on the lower Sandy today. But I have caught fish in stonger winds.

Put in at L&C and ran up to Stark St. Bridge and started working my way down. Where a arriving bank angler couldn't wait 5 minutes for me to finish my pass and deliberately casted over my line and promply broke my diver and bait off. Thank you!

Nothing looked fishy on the end of my rod today but I did see some bankies packing out a fish from the gauge hole.

I did have a brand new Blue Magoo K-16 drift into net range???? Thank you!

The river was 38.6 degrees and getting colder when I left. I had all the slots and holes to myself, but it didn't help.

Good luck,
Andy

Andycoho, was the bank angler there first? if he was and you tried to run diver and bait thru there you deserved what you got. i fish both bank and boat. if there is a bankie and i am back trolling down in my boat i go around or i pull up. just my opinion.

OH NO!

I was the only one on the water above the gauge hole. When I pulled up to the Stark St. Bridge there was no body fishing, no cars parked up above, so time to fish. Started working the hole, as well as I could in the wind. When old bankie pulls up in his red Grand Cheroke, parks, walks down even with me. I give the hello nod, because it was to cold for me to pull my mouth out of my collar. Bankie ignores me. Sets his gear down looks across the river. Then casts right over my billowing line. Brings it tight and snap! My diver and bait go floating down river like a bobber set up.

Bankie doesn't apologize, just puts more bait on and starts fishing again while I chase down my gear.

I would have been past him in, no less than 2 minutes, but he didn't want to wait.

I always give the bankies lots of space, because I know what it feels like, I was a bankie for many, many years.

Good luck,
Andy

More often than not if I try to run diver/plugs within an oar length of the FAR bank below the big rock at Stark ST. some moron will try to cast clear across the river to snag me. If I am alone sometimes I row right over to get introduced. It used to be fun, but now I find most of these persons are pretty spineless and very boring. Sorrry you had a bad day on MY River.BTW when you check the number of WS smolts planted in the Sandy these days you might switch creeks. The Spring Chinook run is bigger than the Hatchery WS return.

ssteelheadsteve,

I hear you, I used to get pretty hot at some of those guys, before "river rage" became a new trend. But I find that at the end of the day I am much happier with myself when I don't yell at some jerk.

Oh well it's just fishing, wait ITS JUST FISHING!!

Good luck,
Andy
