Good Evening I-Fishers!!
Long time reader, first time writer, or something to that effect. Green Machine, that is the nickname of my boat. I just moved up to Sedro Woolley, after living and fishing in Longview for quite a few years. Hopefully I can keep you guys informed on what is happening up north. I live one mile form the Skagit river and if anyone is ever looking for a road trip, let me know. I still plan on heading south to hit all of the I-fish posted hot spots!! I know the rules, new guy has to tell a story. Ok, as you read this, remember I am not the victim.
One cold January day my buddy and I were fishing a famous hole on the Kalama for the elusive winter run steelie. He is a veteran fisherman, myself at the time could make a beautiful house for a bird to live in out of a baitcaster!! :depressed: We had fished for a half an hour when the guy 50 feet down yells, "Fish On!" After a few minutes later we could tell it was something really big, or something really nasty. You guessed it, five minutes later a prized January silver was brought to shore. My buddy walks down to look at it, changes expression on his face, and says, "That's a nice fish!!" He turned to walk back towards me and you hear this, "WHACK" He shouts, "What are you doing!!" The angler proudly states, "It's a smoker!!" Buddy says, "But it has clam chowder on his head!!" The angler doesn't reply. Half an hour later a fisherman walks toward us and asks if we have had any luck. I said, "No, but that guy just caught a silver." "A silver?", he says. He walks down to look at the prize and chuckles, "Did you catch that or did it swim to shore and die?" The angler was starting to question his judgement. Half hour later the fish checker walks up to us to see if we had caught anything. Before we could say, "That guy just caught a silver", the angler slowly nudged the chowder head back into the Kalama river.
Great site, look forward to using it more often.
