Hello All,
Long time reader, first time writer.
I've only been fishing for about a year and a half now, so I don't have any real great fish stories. I have caught alot of fish, just no real good stories... Sorry. So I'll tell tell you a drift boating story. Last year on a sunny Sunday afternoon my father in-law (Grantspastor) and I decided to go fish his favorite section of the middle Rogue River from Ennis Riffle To Galice.

We fished lower Ennis a little bit.
Not much was going on so he decides to drop on down to Carpenters Island and pull plugs on the left side. We get there, he is rowing and I'm in the front fishing when I hear him say OH NO !! I turn around to see he has a Treble hook from a Hot Shot buried in the palm of his hand. We tried to get it out but it was too deep and to painful. He looks at me and tells me I'm going to have to row the boat to Galice. I have some experience rowing a drift boat, but For those not familiar with this area the next rapid Is Galice Chute A Class III rapid with two big rocks in it . ( did I mention His boat is a wooden Don Hill ). After a little coaching and a little luck we made it through without any damage.... I have sinced rowed it with my own boat a couple times and am quite a bit more comfortable doing it. It just the first time that makes you really nervous...

See ya on the Rogue,
The Finreaper

You couldn't have made it without the coaching...right? Still not sure how I managed to sink that hook so deep into my hand. You're a good son-in-law...and the best fishing partner...welcome aboard.

Good story, Finreaper, welcome aboard. Nicky (that's his picture) seems to find Kwikfish with the tip of his tail if you give him half a chance but we have been lucky. So far all he has hooked is hair!

FinReaper... great name!

My bro-in-law sold his first drift boat to a guy on a Wednesday (about 10 years ago). The guy launched at Ennis on the next Saturday and proceeded to flip his boat in upper Galice. Good job getting through unmarked in that woody.

See ya on the Rogue. I'm going to look at it now. Jo Creek came up about 2 feet last night behind my house, but its not all that muddy. Don't know what the river looks like.
