Spent two hours above Dodge today. River was tea colored with 1.5 ft. vis. and starting to get a greener tinge by the time I left.
All I could bump were old Coho, quite a few still around. Did see one steelie taken at the bridge as I was leaving and I probably packed out 15 lbs of trash.
Highlight of the trip was fishing under a Bald Eagle that was perched about 10ft above me in an alder. Never seen one hang that close for so long. Beautiful bird looking for salmon dinner.Any way the river color should be nice for you weekend anglers. Light 'em up !

BP, You were parked next to us in the parking lot at Dodge Park. Thanks for setting the example on the trash detail.
It has given me an idea. graemlins/idea.gif If every fifth time on the river I took a garbage bag along and picked up trash, and someone saw me and started doing it, and someone saw them and started doing it and someone saw me and started doing it, we just might end up with popular stretches of rivers that resemble shore lines instead of trash dumps.
I think the problem today with the Sandy was that this was the first big water level rise in the watershed and all of the feeder creekbeds got cleaned out for the first time, hence the tea colored water. Even though it will rain tonight, I don't think the Sandy will be blown tommorrow, unless they pick up 2".

brushpuppy I thank you for picking up trash. I always spend time picking up trash. I just don't understand why people have to throw their trash on the banks of our fishing rivers. I also stopped at the Sandy and made a few casts. I was down low by the I-84 bridge. Only a couple hours to fish. My broken thumb has limited me on my ability to fish and I snagged up and lost my rigging. Started raining, glasses got wet, broken thumb, dificulties rigging up, so I decided to pick up trash. No lack of that. Plenty of keepers. I still left feeling good about the day. No fish but I filled a hefty bag. Lots of beer cans, styrofoam, etc... Hopefully all the trash and fishing line we all remove will make a difference and others will follow by our example.
Fishing line left on the bank kills birds. Pick it up and pack it out. For everyone.
