Over the last year, I have pretty much converted from mono to braided lines for my spinning rod, but I hate trying to trim it when tying knots. It's hard as heck with my nippers and wire cutters. Anyone got a good tip?

Yes, use a sharp knife. Nipper, clippers, scissors just fowl the line for the most part.

Any small sharp blade will work. Bring the line over the edge so that the knot is within whatever distance that you want to leave as a tag end. Press the line against both sides of the blade and pull knife and line in opposite directions. I use this technique with scissors also.

The scissors on my Leatherman Microtool cut the thread beautifully. Occasionally have to sharpen but much easier than trying to cut the ends with a knife.
I also recommend burning the ends back with a lighter so you get a little nub on the end. Keeps the tag end from pulling back through the knot.

Nice tip Crabbait, I never thought about burning the end of the line before, thanks.

A guy that fished out of my boat a couple years ago had a device about the size of a penlight that had two electrodes on one end. He used it to melt through mono and braided. His wife was a nurse and they used these things to cotterise, it could even burn through fingernails he said. I'll be darned if I know where to get one though. One time use thing. Pretty handy. Just food for thought. Goodluck.

I use surgical scissors, available at any well stocked medicine cabinet at any factory.........

What ever you use it must be sharp, I also burn the ends with lighter however don't depend on the nub on the tag the end to keep it from pulling through the knot. If you don't have much experience with tieing braided line make sure you test the knot.

Rifle through the wife's sewing box just like she does your toolbox!!! There's always nice new scissors in there plenty sharp for braided line or cutting chunks of roe.
