what # line?

so i am going to spool up fresh for steelhead. question is what is the best line to use when spooling up with power pro? normally when using max i like to 10-12 main with 8-10 leader. How many of you folks use a mono bumper after your PP? If i jig fish is there a need for the mono bumper or is that just for drift fishing?

husker, i like the 20# power pro. it is like 8 lb test mono diameter. Jig fishing, if you use fixed float you dont need leader if you use no weight in between. with no mono you have less chance of breaking off. but generally i like to use a mono leader with the jigs. it is like a shock absorber. power pro is great stuff but can tend to tangle easily too.

i've only fished my new power pro a couple of times but decided to go with a mono leader on it in case i get hopelessly caught up on something. it takes some doing to break 20# line and whatever the jig's worth it's a lot less than the damage i might do to my power pro (or rod or reel for that matter) trying to get the jig to break loose. i put a snap swivel in upside down so i can attach weight in case i'm fishing a smaller jig with the same float.
