i should have sayed home.the sandy sucked.i floated the lower run.
river hight 7,6 feet
flow 365 cfs
water temp 38 degrees
water clairity 8-10 feet
wind 0-3 mph
i have never seen the water this clear in the sandy.you could see the bottom of all but the deepest holes.with that clearaty there must only be a few fish in the river because all i see were suckers.i fished all the fast ripple water i could find because you could see there were no fish in the holes or tailouts.no fish, no bytes, and i was off the water in 3 1/2 hours.
fair warning stay off the sandy tell we get some water or the fish come in.man i thought i would at least get a summer. oh well 2 weeks and i will try it again. :depressed:

when i woke up this morning and saw fog, i knew the wind was going to settle down. i went up to oxbow today and talked to a few lucky souls who actually caught fish. all were native, all were small (around five and six pounds respectively). none for me, thank you. guess i'll go tie up some more jigs.

After the glowing Dabney report I decided to go ahead and put some effort into pulling out a fish. Didn't see any of them, but I managed to work the bugs out of a couple pieces of equipment: my abu 5601 and my fly casting(it was a take two rods kinda day).

Madwizerd, I hope it improves soon! I have a suspicion that it will.

See ya soon.

I sure wish we would get some rain. I like to drift OXbow to Dabney and that one is a little tough with the water below 8'. Can be done but have to drag the boat in a few spots. Everyone keep doing that Rain dance.

I've been there when you couldn't hardly row downriver. Good luck Wiz

Hi Madwizerd,

The last time I did that drift of the river when it was that low it I had to drag the boat in 3 places. Glad to see you make it back.
