I have been following this site since about July and have learned a great deal. Having spent most of my fishing formalitive years on some river bank in Eastern OR, I knew little about proper river manners on the Columbia, not to mention how to catch fish out of the big creek. The info on this board should be required reading for all that venture forth on the river.........Here's my required newby story
When my son was about 3 years old I was introduced to multi-tasking before it was a fashionable phrase. I had to go fishing but, I was also faced with daycare duties. Hoping to get some fishing in and at the same time keep the young un entertained I turned him loose with a fishing pole with just a bobber on the end. I thought he could work on his casting technique without me having to worry about him hooking himself. This worked well.... Fast forward about 12 years to a summer ago and my son, now 15, says one day out of the blue "I remember when you use to take me fishing and only put a bobber on my line". I promptly reminded him that he still outfished me. Moral of the story, carefull with those young uns they have powerfull memories.
P.S. the young un suffered no permanent damage other than being a hard core fishing junkie.
