Well since Fishin Eddie has now set the date and is trembling in his boots here it is.

December 7th 2002 below Bonniville Dam

The Baton Challenge Will Be Held (by fishalot).

Come as you are and be willing to accept the BATON should you fail.

Fishing Eddie, more like Bouncing Betty

Fishalot, more like Talksalot

Fishrite, yet to be determined

Mofish, Thats an oxymoron

Texas Rig, This ain't no bass fishin tourney.

Snapshot, AH.....what's a sturgeon

Tilla, Can't wait to see this cracker in action or should I say "inaction".

Uncle Bob, you fishin that day or is it your day off from fishin.

FM2, More like Fish Missed Squared.

Who else is coming? Don't want anyone to feel left out of the smack catagory. I guess you could call this a mini-flotilla to get us in line for the upcoming springer bashing on this board.

Put you names here for a whoopin:

OK - so how far below Bonne are we talking? I'm in if you count St Helens as below (it is last time I checked the chart)! It's a long run up the creek from Multnomah Channel to the dam for me.
****** - Miss B's got heaters and blankies (and a TV for the games). I think we'll survive somehow. Interested in roughing it this winter? The big problem comes if the fish start bugging you at 3rd down and 1!

Ha Husker come over here I want to talk with you. You asked about the Baton, well I am the current and proud holder of the Baton. Please don't ask why I have it I could tell you who gave it to me, think of a man fishing for crappie in a $ 30,000 + jet boat  .
Come on wth it is all I want to say.

Fishalot just called me a doughball in another thread. He evidently did'nt read the instructions that I put there. Just goes to prove what a NOVICE BATON holder he is. Fishacracker, Your description of two men pulling in one fish might be right. A 12 footer would more than test your manhood.

O'cityfisherman, I am working on my teammates right now. If I have one give me a "NO" I'll let you know. I have one that is not sure so I guess he has to ask permission from his mommy or something  You know, kind of like Fishin Eddie.

Thanks for the warning ******. It does get a little nasty up there at that time of the year. Long as it is blow down the gorge at less than 25 we should be ok  .

Mel, I have no idea how long a trip it is up from your area. I would think it to be at least 1 1/2 hour trip. :hoboy: That and you would need 800ft of anchor rope for that skiff of yours.

Husker: Fishalot=BATON HOLDER although it truely should belong to FM2springerlessboy. graemlins/icon_argue.gif

C&E - I already know how far it is, to dang far (about 70 miles by water =4 hrs one way). You didn't answer the question about "how far below Bonne" counts as "in"?

PS - I use all chain so I only need about 400 feet! graemlins/stupid.gif

"Gator Challenge?" More like "Gator Challenged!". From what I can read here, you boys better stop at 7/11 and pick-up some "Gatorade" as that might be as close as you get. It will also keep your electrolytes up in cold weather as you sit and dream! December, cold, wind, and rain! I love it! I was born for this! It is my destiny to dominate doughballs!!!! AAAHHHH! Sorry guys, I think they have kept the season closed way to longand it has really stressed me out! Count me in on the 7TH.

If any of you want to see what the keepers look like just stop by and take a look! We will be the ones with the limit of fish and battling the oversize! We would even be willing to let you take a picture of them for future reference

Ah....yeah.....right FWF1. That professional anchoring job that day was a sight. Glad you got to see it. I was even amused. Never said I was perfect. Just "forgiven" . BTW How did that huge gash in your boat come out anyways

Unfortunately, you are right about the salmoniods concerning me. 4 trips and no fish. I'm a falldoughball.

So FWF1 you go salmon fishin with all your coveted cavair collections and we will fight the big boys that day.  Oh yeah, that big gash, I did it on purpose.

After that story I should have my pick of where to anchor. They will see me coming an hoist up the white flag, pick up their ball and go home.

Things seem to be getting interesting. Looks as if I will have two big red's in my boat. I still may have one open seat. My buddy may have prior things he can't slip away from.

I don't know if WaterDog still has a rod. If so, we can always dub that the Baton if Fishalot "accidently" leaves his at home

We should do a roll call before hand somewhere and get a little grub.

Neutron,
You in on this? Oh yea, your probably too busy making plans to take me out Steelhead fishing since your ducks are making my earlier predictions hold true

Scratch and seep, your in for a whoppin. If the Tacklebuster is in the hood, you better bring your game face and then put an extra face in your pocket. Make sure you ware painter pants so the baton can go in the loop. I’ve fished next to T a few times and he has got some kind of juju when it comes to sturgeon. I don’t want to ruin his juju so I’ll sit this one out. But if the weather is favorable maybe I’ll drag my ride up there and cheer a few of you on. Hey BOE where is team minimal impact?

"IwishIcouldcatchsoIcouldeat". Geth-soon-tight (spelled phenetically so you could understand FishlessBettyBoop. Stuff some Kleanex up your nose cause I think your brains have liquified and are draining out any and all openings in your head.

As for the Baton. I will be more than happy to brandish it for the day. Not to proud to hand it off at days end.

Now as for any wanna be involved fisherman that do not have rides to this event you might want to list your names here or e-mail those that are advertising open seating. Don't forget that there is some bank access up there too and that is legal in this round of the baton chase.

Someone suggested meeting for breakfast that morning. I am open to that but beware of those that tend to camp on prime fishing spots (Finclippled Eddie does this).

As stated I have a team of four folks in my boat. Would prefer to stay at four but if push came to shove I could do 5 if it is necessary.

Hey Lipripper, you going to be out for this one???? It's not as bad as the ocean. Sure like to see ya here if you are not still killing salmon.

FWF1 You gonna do this????

What I'll be serving for breakfast that day consists of this.....

3 Keepers over easy.
A side of 8 foot oversize hawg
A tall glass of Whoop Butt for anyone not in my boat
And last but not least Cry and Weep and the rest of his tream in a doggy bag to go

Just so you know, my boat has never been out sturgeon fished, EVER. What WaterDog said is the truth. Anyone that has ever fished beside me knows. I'm gonna turn Husker into a sturgie catching machine.

You must fish the Columbia. You do know where that is FWF1? :hoboy: Pictures would be nice of the days catch with dimensions please. The main group will be up by the dam preferraby. It's too bad that Waterlogged and Barnicles On Epidermous (BOE) will not attend. On the other hand the fishing should be good that day.

No official start time, just come out to have some fun. From what I have seen on this thread there will be a free clinic from our buddy Tacklewithmusturd on how to catch undersized sturgeon. At the end of the day he will demonstrate how to pick up his ball and go home.

I now need to hook up with someone for this trip to be able to use this luck streak and bring in some big keepers and other oversize.

Since I aint whipped like some of you, graemlins/berry.gif I’m on the water almost every weekend. We all know the BIG fish are at Kelly Point. I’ve caught those skinny snakes up in the gorge before. The only good thing about the gorge is the quantity of fish. So while you girls are fighting the west wind trying to stay on your anchor with your kicker in reverse, I’ll most likely be somewhere around Kelly Point.

Fishingfirstatwillaminapond, you better leave the walmart trout rod at home. Oh and don’t bother with your powerbait either.

Hey BOE, I don’t do honey-do’s. A honey-do means “honey, do it yourself cuz I’m fishin.” And I aint afraid of the rain, that is what wax is for.

I am sure glad to see how much everyone loves to fish, because otherwise there is no reason for anyone else to show up. All that is going to happen is you will get wet, cold and hungry since there will be no stamping of your cards. You will catch some fish but likelyhood of getting into the good gators is very slim.

You all know that you can not compete with the likes of team OnFire

It is sorta like asking the the northwest pro and college teams to win the big one. JUST NOT GOING TO HAPPEN any time soon. You will all come close in 2nd/3rd and so on but never make it to the top.

God I like to see the spirit in you all but lets face the facts. You just can not show up and expect to win. Its that simple.

Yes more razing at the Xmas party please.

It seems that people forget that when you have two vets (that have pretty good clue of what to do) then add into the mix of two rooks there is no possible way that anyone else will be able to hook, picture, tag and brag about more fish than anyone else.

Go back (Some of you way back  )when you were a rookie and you will remember that the first time you went out gator hunting you caught and landing the most and largest fish of the day..

So Waterdog, I take it that since you be a flappin your jaw that you will be participat'in?? Good boy if you are. I'll be checking for scars on your ankles from the o'l ball and chain.

I got an e-mail regarding rules and such. There are no real set rules except you must fish with your friends on December 7th. There are no awards or prizes except for one. The BATON. That goes to the biggest skunk of the day :hoboy:

A little history lesson could be clarified better by Fishin Eddie who initially awarded a BATON to Fishalot during the Springer SEASON. Though rightly belonging to FM2 it was retained by Fishalot just because. Just something fun that we have been doing to rib each other a little.

With that said, this is simply to be and only to be a fun day. We don't really care where you fish for Sturgeon just do it. However, our goal is to fish up in the Gorge near the Fishery. We would enjoy meeting any of you that can make it up there. Meeting each other is what this is about. Just a little friendly competition added into the mix.

Students, your attention please !

We will be holding a special clinic for the sturgeon challenged on December 7th.

Those of you who have trouble catching gators ( 90 % of those on this thread graemlins/berry.gif ), should bring notepads, pencils, binocs or whatever other study aids you might need.

There will be a test at the end of class, so please pay attention

Class will be held at KP.

Please be on time, bring a #2 pencil, and one smelt.

For those that need extra help, there appears to be a study hall on Thanksgiving weekend.

Recess time class, see you there !

Waterpoegy, anybody can stand at the dock and take pictures of other people fish. This is no proof you have any talent. Oh, and the paper in our neighborhood is delivered in one of those Oregonian yellow thingys. We don't bend over in our neighborhood. Since you mention bending over to pickup the paper I assume that the paper boy is just driving by and tossing the paper, hoping to not get shot. You live in a tough neighborhood DOG. "Deliverance".

Fishininthepot, you sure talk a blue streak son, Since you will be feeling a little Yellow on the seventh if figure you are just mixing you colors a little. So when you see our fish I am sure your face will be GREEN with envy. Oh, green and yellow......better bring your brown pants to just in case.

ChickenGIzzard, Baywatch might just be your venue. That pretty yellow boat does nothing but scare fish off. You might want to try Smelly Jelly Banana Scent and rub it on the boat to improve your odds. You might actually catch a bass that day.

you guys are killing with with all your chest beating and vocalizations.

Hey WaterDog,
You are right about one of our fish exceeding the weight capacity on FishlessLast's boat. Combine the weight of that fish, a couple of smelt and his mouth and it will be man overboard. I guess the good thing about owning a toy boat is that when your main motor goes out, your weed eater can dubb as a backup

Hey Fishalot: Field Dressing a Deer Texas Style is a step by step process.
1) cut around the neck just below the chin (don't waist any meat Terry) 2) next cut the belly until all the guts fall out (don't get any hair on my meat Terry) 3)next saw the pelvis with your little pull saw(hold those legs open wider Terry) 4) grab the esophagus and throw blood all over Rod's new pants, before pulling everything out  (then blame it on 'Terry) 5) wipe out with paper towels and place stick in the body cavity so meat cools faster. (hold the cavity open wider Terry) 6) Place your hard earned prime venison in a cheap 99 cent deer bag that looks like Paula's used panty hose  (why didn't Terry bring me a better deer bag?) This is a step by step how you clean a deer "Texas style" as demonstrated by Billy Morrison. Try it you will like it! fishrite

Maid Wizzards, you're planning on cleaning up on the 7th are ya. I will be sure to have my boat in line for the Maid Wizzard Clean up crew. Please put a high shine on on our decking as it will be pretty slimey from all the keepers we will be catching. Please use lemon joy as I think it will do a great job. BTW, when you wash my boat do us all a favor and leave the Maids outfits at home. Rain gear will do just fine.

As far as the defector thing. No hard feelings. I am all cried out now and have called Dr. Laura for counsil. :hoboy: You might want to call her after the whoopin on the 7th.

Hey, I saw Tagsters crew on the list yet team Tagster has escaped without insult. Must be the Silent But Deadly approach.

Speaking of silent but deadly, Fishrite. One word. BEANO!!!! Use it dude. graemlins/1zhelp.gif

I have been feeling all smack talked out :depressed: I sure don't want anyone feeling mad a others because they can come up with better smack then they can. I have to wonder if (Turkey Baster) is  mad because I found out his true name? (Catch and Eat anything) has no feelings  ( Fishing when my Wife lets me) I know he has feeling because he always cries when he is out fished :hoboy: . (Texas Rugrat) is a man full of emotion , I know this by the deprestion he went through because it took his so long to catch a Springer
You all have a great Turkey feed and give thanks for all you have because on Dec 7th all your lives will be changed after TEAM SNEAKIN OUT puts a big clinic on for you. Bring a note pad to write on (Caught a fish once) because you will learn alot that day, that is if you are not asleep. We will wake you up when we come by with a oversize on.

Scratchacreep opens his big mouth and says:

Even Waterdog has lock jaw. That is unusual! <font size="2" face="verdana, arial, helv">I'm just sitting back and watching all the fodder fly. Come game day we will see who's got game. Looking at the tide chart I may just head to the fishery on Friday to "practice" as you call it. "Practice" is a term used by those who cant seem to get a "kitchen pass". "kitchen pass" is a term that means, "yes dear, I am your humble servant."

There is no way I'm scared of the baton. graemlins/eek13.gif Do a search on last years winter sturgeon season under member #156. You'll see what I mean.

Waterdog, by the look of your boat you with all those other softies out there that need a top will be blowing around like a bunch of lost dogs. That,s OK though because you might want to tie off to C&E because they too will be dead in the water.
As for Texas Rig and his bunch of rag tag " I wish I could catch a sturgeon wantabe's" Yhea right. Stella and team Sneakin Out I've seen Fishalot in action I hope he knows when to set the hook  All I know is there will be alot of people feeling pretty darn  after the 7th.
Hope you all have a great Thanksgiving

Fishalot, I am so sorry that you are plumb out of smack. :hoboy: I am sure your "luck" is following behind in a close second to that. Team Stink'in Out is loosing momentom here folks. Tunnel vision is setting in. Dylan, I knew this thread would tax your stamina brother. Just did'nt think you would give up so quickly.
