I sell fresh fruits and vegetables from all over the world to retail stores. My sales areas are Medford (love the Rogue), Roseburg (both Umpqua's), Salem (Santiam), Tillamook (need I say more) & Seattle. My company allows me to incorporate fishing trips (company wide) for building stronger customer relations. This way I can fish during the week for business and on the weekend for pleasure. A great deal for both sides.

I'm a fish surgeon.
I specialized in performing surgical implants of tags to do behavioural studies, mainly on salmonids (sea-trout, salmon). I have performed surgery on fish from 17 grams to 12 kg. The species I have studied include: Trout, Atlantic salmon, spring chinook, roach, bream, eel, lamprey, pike, pikeperch and perch.
If I had been paid just half of what human doctors get per surgery, I could retire now at 37, but I only get a mediocre pay even when I make 50 implants in a day during freezing cold field conditions, but I don't really complain as long as I can work with fish everyday.

When I'm not at work telling people to reboot their computers I'm usually doing the same for friends and family at home. I've also been known to create websites for those who find themselves in such a need.

I am a professional blackjack player, but only on Thursdays after the mail lady has been by with the unemployment check. The remainder of the week, I look for offers of open boat seats on a trip within an hour from me (less if Thursdays dealer robbed me) No seat? Really, I have been somewhat struggling since November '01 when QWest cut me lose as a transmission eqiupment installer/tester in the central offices of america (all of it) 911 and all the scams really killed the telecom industry growth, not to mention the FCC's assinine policies and all the mom and pops overbuilding.
So I dont have a straight answer, have owned three businesses if you want to call 'em that, a general contractor (carpenter) here in Oregon, a photog biz on Maui, and a vaccuum truck owner operator in the oil fields of the great white north.

I have been running a Mortgage Company for the last 11 years and help people buy houses. I also help people refinance their existing mortgages to save money and in some cases have been able to help facillitate a boat purchase without increasing their monthly payments. Now that is way cool and makes me feel great. graemlins/hearton.gif I have also helped pay for braces, college and many remodels. I love my business as I actually get paid for helping people make their lives better. The other cool thing is that I get to meet so many great people and most of them become friends, and I feel that you can never have too many friends. the other cool thing is that I do not have to be in my office all the time to get my job done, thanks to cell phones, so it lets me fish a few week days. Now all that being said, today is Saturday and I worked 7 hours today making it 61 hours this week, but that will chage when the springers get here...

I can’t give too many details, but I work for an un-named government entity, at a locale referred to as Area 52, in the realm of Supra-Hyper-Advanced-Design (SHAD). I’m fortunate to be able to work in the northwest rather than at the decoy site in Nevada - the Skunkworks - otherwise known as Area 51 - our best-leaked secret site.
While the supposedly ‘secret’ Area 51 at Groom Lake, Nevada is clearly marked on maps, the SHADworks Area 52 is not found on any map, any place, period.
Within Area52 we merge piscatorial design with aeronautic engineering. I can’t say too much, but next time you see a Stealth bomber, notice that the wing aspect ratio mirrors the physicality of Tenualosa ilisha.

I still do some goldsmithing, just what I want to do without all the pressures of having to do it to make a living!!! It makes a big difference doing it that way for me, besides I can make my own spinners and put on the best gold or silver plating that you've ever seen. I have been expermenting with different patinas and different finishes for years, some of the results are really suprising. The dental lab job provides
me with more than the daily recomended amount of stress required to go crazy, but it keeps me on my toes and it helps me really appreciate my fishing and family time. Mike graemlins/1zhelp.gif

Former Navy "spook"(late 60's); former salesman; former sales manager; formerly self-employed; formerly unemployed; former night custodian; presently a government bureaucrat(trucking regulation). Live on 3+ acres of trees, flowers, grass & weeds, that cuts into my fishing time, but I love it. Married to the same fishing partner for 34 years. Oh yeh, Go Ducks!

Self employed security systems contractor. I specialize in commercial systems like fire alarm, security alarm, access control, and CCTV. Most of my work is subcontracting for other large security companies who peddle a product, pretend to design it, and then come to me to make it all work.
I also was in the military (USAF Security Police)for 4 years, where I joined to see the world and instead got stationed at Rapid City, SD, where I guarded nuclear missles.
After the military I went off to school in Minnesota and somehow managed to get a 4 year degree in Physics. Still wondering what to do with that!
My favorite fishing is for ocean salmon off the mouth of the Columbia but I also like the variety of fishing for many other species. I still go back to Minnesota every year and fish too.

I work for Pacific states marine fisheries commission and ODFW at the Newport office. Recently I became a member of the Groundfish management team for the Pacific Fishery Managment Council. I now have the dubious distinction of being part of the group who regulate marine fisheries in all sectors....what was I thinking? Anyway, I really do look out for all of you, and the commercial fisheries. It's a thankless job, but at least I'm employed!

HVAC and Refrigeration mechanic,,,,,,,was in biz for 18 years in the Hillsboro area, and sold out and moved to the Long Beach Peninsula in 96. Started another business servicing and installing commercial and marine refer equipment and doing residential and commercial heating,,,(no air conditioning here) Don't get to fish as much as I'd like, but have other perks like free oysters, fish and crab from my clients and lots of fresh air,,,,,not a lot of traffic except for the 4th of July and Labor Day, and a very small town atmosphere. Plan on dying here, and will continue to fish when I can,,,,,,,,,,

This board is a regular plethora of knowledge.
I work for a company in Vanc. that manufactures "electrofishing equipment." I started out as an aluminum/stainless steel welder building boats here, and have found myself in the Biology Dept. I conduct injury experiements on fish in regard to electrofishing and traveling all over the country teaching people how to safely electrofish.
Hey! It's a crumby job, but somebody's gotta do it! It's as though I have fallen into an outhouse and come out with a gold nugget.
This is what I have to do to support my fishing addiction.
Ragnar
P.S.
Yes, I still do a little welding on the side. Nothing too monumental. E-mail me if your interested. We can talk.

******,
Brion Lutz. What do you do? We all want to know.<font size="2" face="verdana, arial, helvetica">It's almost more fun not to know what folks do for a living. What I love about fishing is that it is such an equalizer. The CEO bows and begs the washroom attendant for fishing tips. Fishing ability rules.
Just when I thought I was out...they pull me back.
Web nuts ask stuff like, "Aren't you bored fishing all the time?" They are soooo crazy.
Out of retirement, helping some DC internet buds, now in LA, who have done a successful startup wiht some really cool content management software (stuff for folks who have to manage busy websites or busy folks who have to manage websites).
Previously...web development in DC...got blown clear when the dot.bomb went off (picture Arnold at the end of Predator I). Mr. Bill, Big Al and the NRA were customers. An interesting mix in DC, usually you work for one side or the other. Got bought out by some big telcom and I fled to New Zealand for the America's Cup.
But I've done all kinds of stuff...spent the first 20 years flying all over the world, mostly 3rd world, selling power and light...that was fun. Then into electrical contracting (hired by one of my customers to computerize his biz)...that was fun too. Then into the internet biz when it was sucking dollars like a wild fire sucks oxygen...that was too much fun.
I've done presentations at the White House Conference Center (internet biz) and the Iraqi Ministry of Energy (power and light biz)...that's when Rummy liked Saddy. They used to have such a gas together.
All they while a contractor for AOL's CompuServe division. A hobby that got out of hand when I bought my first computer, the original Compaq Portable back in the early 80's. Did a whole bunch of around the world sailboat races for CS/AOL. I raced around the world on a 747 doing computer/media stuff (worked with ESPN and the journos) while the boats sailed around. If you ever wondered what running away from home and joining the circus was like, that was it.
I still do that...the "Internet Sports Media" in my profile.
So I'm a semi-retired web nut, electrical contractor, power generation, import/export biz person.
I had told Straydog not to tell...having way too much fun with folks insisting I was an environmental lawyer. Of course, all this could be an elaborate cover for my real job flying Black Helicopters for the UN secret army that is busy dismantling Bonneville Dam...and you thought they were sea lions.
What we should post are fishing resumes. Got my first boat with my first job out of college, a 17 Whaler. Fished out of the Mullica River in NJ. Out Little Egg Inlet to about 20 miles offshore, tuna, bluefish, flounder, stripers and weakfish.
Company I worked for also did jazzed up diesels for sport fishing biz. Part of my job was to take customers out fishing on the company boat so boss could get tax write off...last boat was a 63' Buddy Davis custom with 2,000 HP. Biggest fish for me, 150 lb tuna that beat me to a pulp.
I've always lived on the water. Delaware River Lambertville NJ (Shad Capital of the World), Chesapeake Bay (Stripers) and now on the Columbia River (Salmon, Walleye and Bass).
Above should be sung to tune "He's Mista Know It All" by Stevie Wonder.
Now is that more than you wanted know <grin>.
