This past Sun., 1/11/04 around 1:00 PM some scumbag(s) broke my car window (white Nissan Sentra) and stole my Cabela's neoprene waders, Hodgeman wader boots, and Winston flyrod. They also tried to jack the stereo, but must have been scared away before finishing the job. I was parked near the bridge over Eagle Creek on Dowty Rd. If anyone can supply information leading to the return of these items, I am offering a cash reward. An additional cash reward is offered if the information leads to the arrest of the person(s) responsible. Thanks.

I'm sorry about that. Between all that stuff, maybe homeowners will pay something? A winston is not a cheap rod. I quite often browse the area for used gear. The winston is the most likely thing to show up, especially if the scum knows it's value. Hope the rest of 2004 brings you better luck!

Thanks, GBS. Yeah, homeowners should cover most of the replacement costs, but there's no replacing the fact that I built the rod up from a kit, and it was a gift from my dad. On the off chance that you come across it, it's a 5-weight 5 piece Winston LT. It appears mostly stock, but has my name on it. The reel seat is curly blonde maple, and there's no hook keeper. When you say you browse the area, where do you mean? I'd love to know where to go looking for my rod, but I don't know where to start. The Sherriff said maybe there's a pawn shop in Estacada, but that's all I know. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Hard to believe, but I got my rod back! My wife did a little detective work and found it on Ebay. See "Happy ending" post for details. I'm one happy guy!
