Phew!!!
Didn't think I would ever be allowed to officially be a member, but here I am.
The obligatory story goes like this...
I consider myself a pretty decent steelheader, usually holding my own with others. One of my customers (I'm an outside sales rep) loves to fish and needed a partner so I figured it would be a good way to learn a new section of the Rogue River.
I was new to rowing while side drifting so he taught me a few new things, but was really getting humbled when he caught fish after fish and I was watching the world float by when it was more rotation up front. I should have picked up on all the boats (guided and otherwise that were saying hi to us).
By the end of the day I landed 3 and lost two but he had landed 13 and lost one. I was quite humble to say the least.
It wasn't until the drive home that I inquired about knowing so many people on the river. Thats when I found out my new fishing partner was the President of the guides association!!! (Needless to say I've paid much better attention since and find myself catching alot more fish, not to mention a better oarsman).
