Bill Hedlund came in second in the North Coast Rendezvous this week!
Gary Hilton came in first, (and only fished one day!!!!)

It was a great time... I'll write more later.

Fishing is starting to slow right now, with the rivers dropping to those low and clear blues..... :depressed:

Way Cool Bill~

What kind of bait were you using?

Just curious...

Bill was using, primarily, Kwikfish wrapped with Marie's sardines, of course.... You know, from Tillamook Bait Shop!!!!

Where do we go to get our bait? (http://www.tillamookbait.com)

Where else?

Hmmm... Hobart is flogging a deep-fat fryer that GI Joe's has on sale, for deep frying the Thanksgiving bird. That's certainly a sign that Hobart has no fishing news...

Presume everyone knows about the 1080AM
Sat 6-7AM fishing show. Famous people such as Ms. Jennie L Martin visit the show from time to time.

Maybe it's time to turn the dial to 910AM.

Congrats to Bill!

That is pretty good company with Mr. Hilton and all. Not to mention the rest of the competition...

Where's the pics!!????

Jennie,

I am looking forward to hearing about the overall fishing success on the Charity event on Thursday/Friday. Were many fish caught or did a few do well and others poorly?

Thanks,

Rusty

Fishing was challenging, at best.
Many very good guides went 0 for 0.
It was a shot in the dark.
Pressure was very heavy, due to the clearing rivers, however, it was like someone pulled the plug on the rivers on Friday. They all just dropped like mad!
John Bowles mentioned marking a bunch of new fish yesterday, so perhaps we'll get a good run at a bunch of chromers soon.
Lesseee.... what else?
The Wilson was just packed, forcing many guides to hold up in a spot, and just stay put. This is not how anyone prefers to fish a river, as you can imagine, but it was just so jam packed they couldnt budge!
All in all, it was a great, fun event. A little less attendance then normal, due to the storm blow out. Guides who had planned to be there, had to cancel trips in order to make it, and some could only fish one day.
Gary Hilton won, even though he only fished one day! He had a client yesterday, and couldn't opt out.
Bill tried two rivers, the Kilchis the first day, and the Wilson the next. Both rivers put out the same amount of fish.
Pressure was high on the Kilchis. That, along with fewer fish througout the Kilchis system, anyhow, made it tough fishing.
The Wilson, too, was packed to the gills.
Russ Morrow came in third. I'll post pictures of the winners later, I didn't have my camera with me.
I fished with John Steele, a member of ifish, on Thursday, with Mulkey. We had a great day... No fish, but I learned tons from listening to him. He puts on a steelhead clinic that Ifish will be advertising for Terry Mulkey, later this year.
Just got back from fishing out back. The river is back to near summer levels, and visibility is at 10 feet or more!!!
Still, bright chinook are spread through the system. You just need to use low water methods, and sneak up on them.
Please be careful on he Kilchis, as the chum are spawning in places that they haven't spawned before. Look carefully before you cross in any low riffle, and above.
I can't even cross my river!!!
