As proof of the ability that lost mojo can be restored here is the irrefutable evidence.

The man who for quite some time was "Formally known as Pilgrim" has become the man who is now "Formerly known as Pilgrim"!!!

http://www.ifish.net/uploads/133220319.jpg

Formerly caught this nice hen today and newby ifisher Manimal caught another.

Now the question: Where are we?

First correct guess gets a prize!

Redbull, Neutron, ******, Timinthegorge and Flatfish, you keep yer traps shut!

Where we were was wet off and on but not all that windy.

Lewis river below the hatchery, Don't know the ramps on that river, but you said yesterday that it wouldn't blow out - EG it has a dam, plus I herd the same secondhand report you did. My boss fished there friday. Ive drifted from the dam to the hatchery, And it isnt either one of those ramps. I think there is a golf course ramp, one called Island boat ramp, And one in Woodland. I would guess it is not island (no island), and the one in woodland would have a bridge in the background I think, so maybe the golf course?

I smelt dipped right below the forks and there is a ramp there.

You can't take a sled there can you? It would be subject to blowout anyway.

OK time for a hint. WHO SAID IT WAS THE LEWIS???

Hogmaster

Yes, ripper the stink is on you and you shut yer trap too!.

But like formerly you to will eventually overcome.

Hog caught a small steelie (OK maybe big trout would be more accurate) which was native and released. But I caught a salmonoid!

UG

Hogmaster

Specifically that is the Blue Creek Trout Hatchery Launch.

We fished there and the Barrier dam launch today.

Blue Creek had its typical tons of bankies and many boats. We worked that area for a few minutes and said the heck with the crowds!

Found some undisturbed water and found the fish. Up at barrier dam there were tons of bankies too, so we fished below them. There were large numbers of dark boots jumping all around us, but the biters were much better looking. Interesting day exploring.

UG you have won a ride wherever you want to go.

Unfortunately I am leaving town for a week tomorrow!

Not only fishing, but ifish withdrawl!!!

Get back Friday, but going to the Civil War on Saturday. Let the smack begin!!!

Next Sunday is a possibility, although it might be kinda "tweener" there by then. Late for silvers, early for Steelies still...

But we will work a PRODUCTIVE trip in, even if we have to take the "new" "Formally" aka "ripper" aka "Hopey"

mallard0311

If I wouldn't of been have asleep I would of seen the ramp. Fished there alot. Don't you think the people across the river love that cannon going off all the time to scare the birds at the hatchery. When some of the Portland guides starting going up there they were backtrolling the boondoggin holes and not used to how the traffic flowed and where to backtroll ect. Saw a well known guide from Portland holding water and backtrolling plugs just above the ramp after the fish truck dumped in a bunch of recyled fish. He did quite well too. It was his first trip to the Cowlitz.

Ahh, Geek, that would be cheating anyway. After all, I got the idea from you!

Besides I already invited you! You are welcome to get in the sled.

Hogmaster

mallard,

We didn't hear the guns but there was a really loud siren for quite awhile. Must be what they are using now. We were joking with a tad bit of nervousness that it was the "dam breech" siren!

We saw some generally rude behavior going on. That's when it is time to go find the fish somewhere else.

I'm quite certain we could have caught more fish today by hanging in the crowds. But would it be fun?? :hoboy:

The fish may concentrate in spots, but they are all over the river...

It's been a few years since I have been there, so they probably changed it to a siren. I only go into crowds when I have the only eggs they want.

I may just take you up on that offer, though. Hope you don't mind if I bring my own net. That thing I've seen you with doesn't look too promising, and for the few fish that I catch I'd hate to lose one to dodecahedra-net.

Hog,

If your eggs milked as well as you did this story you'd be the bombay.

Just teasin'. So sorry to hear your leaving when it's getting good, but that just the life styles of the R&F.

Call when you get home, but I promise to leave devastating messages on your VM.

The Black Knight appears again!

At least he has his shirt on, lrs, and besides, I know you are just jealous because we are fishing one of yer homie rivers. With a question like that, makes one wonder what YOU do on that river!?

And contrary to what you wondered in that email you sent, no, that isn't the same steelhead that I caught at the mouth of the John Day last week! :hoboy:

Redbull, and ripper, please keep an eye on this guy. I need you to talk some smack in my behalf while I'm gone if you see him getting out of line, which is his standard mode.

I'll be positively Pavlovian, salivating with envy over the reports you leave me.

It always happens. Everybody, brace for some AWESOME fishing this week since I will be out of town!!
