On-a-mission and I were there for the first time this year. There were 26 teams and I think there were about 37 fish caught on Thursday (11-21-02) and a few less the following day. We had a great time, what a class act. The guides were totally professional, the accommodations were excellent (thank you Shilo). We caught fish, fished for two days, and met a whole bunch of great fisherman, raised some money for salmon enhancement. Like I said, it was our first time, but we already have recriuted two of our friends to join us next year.
ALL YOU MARK YOUR CALENDERS FOR THE FIRST THURSDAY AND FRIDAY OF NOVEMBER, 2003!!!
Just had a wonderful time and love the spirit.

I understand that a group of anglers from the Sandy Chapter of NW Steelheaders including Ray Hinea (Doc Spratley), Bill Beith, Jerry Hofer, and Colonel Thomas took first place. They were also impressed with the whole event. If anyone has complete results and perhaps some pictures can they post them? I am supposed to get some pictures for our newsletter and will post them if I can.

I used the winning teams camera to take a picture of them. I hope they turned out!
They are supposed to send them to you, and to me... Either way, let's get the pics up!

Hi Pat, nice to see you on line. Thanks for the note. It was Mike (captn) and Dave (On-a-mission) who took second place along with the other half of our team Steve Baily and Pat Arthur, much to all of our suprise. We both enjoyed the whole presentation. That is about all we have talked about for the last few days. We had a geat time as mentioned above, and learned a little bit also.
Jennie, it would be nice if there was some way the Ifishers could get a name tag, so we could put faces to the on-line names. I remember "Doc Spratly" introducing himself across the food line.
Also a note about the guides, who were the real hero's, giving two days of their time to guide total strangers. They made the event pretty special. We fished with two of the younger fellows, Chris Vertopoulos and Trevor Staylor (sp?), both were great guides. Steve and Pat fished with Dudly the first day and the Vanderzanden boat the second day. The second day Steve and Pat brought in some nice fish, and then Dudly turned around and topped off the first place team so we really didn't have much of a chance. So thanks to all who gave so much. We will try harder next year.

What a surprise to see myself and my teammates featured in Jennie's column.
I have fished this event for four years and already have it marked on my calendar for next year. Along with two days of guided fishing in the Tillamook region, you get all of your meals and access to a terrific fundraising auction (lots of terrific merchandise for great prices). With all due respect to the other great tournaments that take place throughout the year, Rod Brobeck and his staff at Oregon Wildlife Heritage Foundation put on the best event. Captn says it best, the guides are the stars of this event.
It was nice to meet fellow Ifishers at the event.
Note to Captn, if there is a food line, you will always find me somewhere in or around it. Jennie it was terrific to be able to meet you in person, finally.
