Took the day off for a little R&R and headed down to the Wilson this morning. No Zipperlip here, caught this 28# Hen at the Josey Hole from the bank on bobber/eggs/shrimp and Marie's shrimp scent. They said there weren't any fish caught there yesterday, but today was a bit better I suppose   Had another come unzipped on the following cast. Saw a couple others caught, one bright and one dark (released) There were a LOT of drift boats on the lower river. The fish are moving, like Jennie said!

Nice fish,

Thanks for the report. I think there will be a heck of an effort this weekend. Hope it stays fishable, but high winds are forecast.

Nice job skrimmy! Good to know the bite might have picked up a little.

Was Josie's crowded?

Thanks to all for the "atta boys". Hogmaster, when I got down there, there were only two other guys fishing. It eventually got up to about 8-10 which wasn't bad at all! But the "bite" happened when it was just three of us, ya gotta love it when that happens! I imagine there will be a whole bunch more folks down there this weekend. I had that hole along with a couple others in mind when I headed down there, but Marie thought Josie Hole was the best choice and ya know those women, they're always right! After all, did you see the two chromers Jennie got yesterday? Those were NICE! Good luck to all down there this weekend!

Good job, skrimmy!

BTW, did you have to pay to fish the hole?

Ultralight, they charge a whopping $3 to fish that spot. That's a bargain! You do however have to hike better than a quater mile to get to the hole. That's not so bad, until you gotta hike back out with your equipment AND a nice fish! That was a bit tricky and my arm is still feeling it! Probably a good thing I lost that second fish! (not)

Capt Chaos....ya'll can go any day of the week! It's open every day. Wish I could sneak another day off this coming week, I think that spot will do well around Wed/Thur after a couple more days of rain, hint hint hint.... b'sides, didn't you use up all that vacation time on the bay in early Oct?  And after the spanking you inflicted on me that week, isn't your freezer full?!!?  I think so!

Did you see the un-registered , unpainted newer Willie DB parked on the way in on the property? He gets to use the gravel bar below the Josi hole as a takeout. He also packs a gun in a shoulder holster! :depressed: Of course he needs to defend his actions on the river! graemlins/eek13.gif
Best described as "un-cool". graemlins/berry.gif

How does he (and who is he) get away with an unregistered boat? Didn't see him or the boat. What's he doing out there that he needs to defend his actions? Just curious, this is the first I've heard about it!

Skrimster,
if he doesn't use a motor on it he doesn't have to register.
What bothers me is that of all the people out there he exibited the most aggressive behavior. The reason we saw the pistol was that he had rowed pretty hard to beat us to a bobber hole and got overheated in the process. After dropping his anchor he took off his coat and the firearm was exposed. He then removed the gun harness. (I guess it's no fun if you cannot suprise anyone with a gun)
A buddy saw that same boat parked (not hitched ) sitting at the Josi hole property the day before.
On Thursday afternoon he pulled up on the gravel bar below the Josi hole and retrieved the boat with his rig. I think he made two drifts that day.

Tilla.....uh, I guess I kinda forgot that! Hey, instead of bullying folks to a fishing hole, why doesn't the guy just drag his rear out of bed a bit earlier! There's no place for packin a gun when you're fishing! Sheesh, it's just fishin! It's supposed to be fun!

It really bugged us! graemlins/berry.gif
I wouldn't wanna be in the woods with that type around, I bet he plays the Banjo!

I might catch heck for this, but I don't see anything wrong with packing a gun BECAUSE of the banjo pickers. It's his constitutional right, so If he feels safer packin' heat then let him. Maybe he was assaulted/robbed in the past who knows...

Do me a favor guys......don't start that argument/discussion on this thread! Start another one to discuss it and leave me out! Jennie's wants us to play nice.......I already stepped slightly over that line once this weekend! Take it somewhere else! I have an opinion on the topic, (as on most topics!) but it doesn't belong here! Let's just fish!

Point well taken....I just didn't stop to think that my remark was going to start a new topic! Sorry! My main point was that I just want to have fun fishing!
