We collected chinook for the broodstock program fri. and there was no winters then.
Hey hankstr,
Good fishing with you today.
We got to the Nestucca about noon today and fished until about 3 PM. It was a short trip today. Three Rivers is still too low to fish. We went down to the Nestucca, and I got a nice 35 pound hen on bobber, yes, its amazing, SKP finally catches his FIRST hen of the fall chinook season. I was starting to wonder if I would be able to fish 2003 springers with eggs or hardware. I hooked it in the first hour we were there. It was Santiam chrome color, belly was firm and full, so on the bank it went. The eggs filled a gallon freezer bag, YAHOO!!! We barbecued some of it tonight. It tasted great! We saw only 2 other salmon landed. We did see one really chrome nice winter steelhead, about 12 pounds, a teenager caught at the mouth, when we stopped to take a peak. You needed sun glasses for that baby. It was almost transparent. I think a couple more weeks, and the winters will be here in force.
I don't have a picture yet of the fish I caught today, but hope to get it developed soon.
Good Night!
SKP
