I'm curious too! We really havn't had much rain...yet. I would hate to head down there in the morning and have the wind blow me off the river! Wind and driftboats don't get along. graemlins/eek13.gif

I was shocked!
I was all pumped to go fishing, thought the river had come up.
NOPE!
Not much!
It was a blast to watch the salmon try to get up though, the darkies... They are ready to spawn!

It was like watching at the dam hole on the Trask. Tons of dark fish moving, tails flapping everywhere!

But.. the river only came up about a foot. Still low and clear, colored with alder leaves.

My opinion? Head to the Bay! I think it would be red hot today, if you can stand the weather!

Currently, it is sprinkling, with.. oh... about 10 mpg gusts, but that is HERE. On the bay, you'll have to look it up.

Happy fishing!

Lots of rain, LOTS of wind, but the rivers haven't risen much. I'm going to check it out at lunch, but I think we're going to need quite a bit more rain to soak into the very dry ground before the rivers rise significantly. Fortunately that's the forecast. http://www.ocs.orst.edu/pub_ftp/weather/public_forecast/zone.MFR

But there has been enough rain - hopefully - to get the "scent of upstream" flowing and get some action. This lockjaw has been frustrating.

All this wind has blown most of the leaves off the trees so they'll be floating downstream making things even more tricky.

Regardless, I'll be on the lower Rogue at daybreak tomorrow and will give a full report then.

Me?? I'm probably crazy...but Jan and I are heading down to Tilly for the weekend. I'm with Jen on the bay idea. Just hope the winds stay within reason. Anyway..."Say Hi if you go by..."

I just called Nestucca Valley SG and they told me the river has only come up about 4" so far. I think by mid to end next week it is going to be real good (If it doesn't blow out).
I am gonna go do some tidewater fishing tomorrow in kind of a zipper lip that has been producing real well for me lately.

North Coast... http://www.wrh.noaa.gov/Portland/public_hydro/coast.html

South Coast... http://www.wrh.noaa.gov/Medford/hydro/index.html

After a brief check at lunch, it looks like the smaller streams are up a bit graemlins/applause.gif graemlins/applause.gif graemlins/applause.gif graemlins/applause.gif !

Hard to tell on the Rogue. It's a real high tide right now with very large surf, so everything is flooded down low. I didn't have time to check too far above tidewater, but it could be good.

Hope my wife wants to stand in the river in the rain or hope she won't miss me too much this weekend.

Anyone seen the Trask tide water yet??? Is it going to be fishable this weekend.

Trask was VERY fishable today... to fishable... no fish to catch. Fished from 7:30 till noon when I was blown off with horizontal rain.

Did not appear rain had affected the rivers or fishing yet.

blubeast....

You removed your comments about so many leaves you could not see the road on 6? That situation can be slicker than snot. How was it? I am supposed to be going over Hwy 6 early a.m.

Hope I miss that deal.

Anybody?

I cant believe im saying this, but we need a good 3" soaker.

The ground is so dry that it is soaking up most of this rain. Give it time guy's, the river's will be high and dirty in good time.

Sorry ******... did not see your followup post about the leaves. Roads Friday were not bad... suspect it was because heavy rains had not knocked the leaves off yet.... Others replies after our return indicated they were getting slick.

On-a-Mission and I fished the tidewater area of the Nestucca this morning, Hannamans and Riverview above Pacific City. The weather was pretty good, occasional showers, and minimal tide change, kind of stuck at high tide. We were surprised to notice that the river was very clear with very little debris. There were a few fish rolling, and we did our best Ammerman imitation to track them down, but no luck today. Weather started getting bad at about noon, so we called it a day. Got back here to note that the river had been rising since we had started fishing.
Did anyone fish up river above tidewater?

I just came back from Gary Krum's service in Tillamook...Wilson River looks almost like it did last week before the rain...maybe up a little, but clear and no leaves...some storm...
