Dear Ifish Volunteers,
Top Priority:
The North Fork Nehalem Hatchery would love to have 4 volunteers in chest waders, Tuesday and Wednesday, to assist in handling their expected first surge of cohos needed for spawning.
Call Joe at 503.368.6828 or 503.358.4072.

Trask Hatchery may also need some volunteers, dressed to handle lots of fish Tuesday and Wednesday, with their large surge of cohos expected over the weekend.
Call Norm at 503.842.4090 for details.

I would love to if it wasnt so far from here. I havent heard and hatcheries around here needing volunteers, do u just call the hatcheries to find out.

Anyway, wish this was Monday when I have the time off. Of course I have the time off for the same reason it's not Monday so there ya go.

Looks like Joe at NF will be spawning fish on Tuesday. He indicated they might be bonking on Wednesday for nutrient program. He said they are not going to freeze this time. Less labor involved to use fresh material.
I'm going to help Joe on Wednesday since I told Norm that I would help at the Trask hatchery on Tuesday.
Maybe I'll see you down there on Wednesday Bill.

I called and left messages for Joe on both numbers. I'm not working and would be happy to go help them out. My wife fishes down there from the disabled platform and we helped them out this summer with the planting of trees and shrubs as part of their riparian project.

Back to the top. There were a fair number of fish (probably coho) moving up through the shallows in the Trask on Wednesday. Probably lots now after some rain.
