How do you do it? What should it look like in the water. Do you flat line them or use weight? I've used them with limited success. Herring or Sardine wraps? No wrap with scent? One or two hooks? graemlins/1zhelp.gif I'd be happy to take someone along in my drift boat for a lesson...

Pull the kwikfish thru the water and see which way it runs,if it runs off to the right turn the eye very little to the left then pull thru the water and see if it runs straight.you don't have to pull hard just pull it.You need to learn this if your going to wrap your kwikfish(a must do) to catch more fish. Its not a hard thing to learn but you must do it.Remember turn the eye just a LITTLE ,VERY LITTLE !! one direction or the other to get it to run straight.

Whenfishing for springers,I use a 48" lead line on a slider and a 5' leader to my kwikfish the length of my leader works well where I fish it might be differant where you fish also the amount of lead depends on the current as I'm anchored when fishing I like to bounce back from the boat about 40' thats a guess .I've never trolled one I think luhr Jensen has a info sheet on this you might check there web site or try fisherman's or GI Joes.

Remember to re-tune after you wrap the fillet on the lure. It can change the way it runs.

Atwork,

I've used the sardine wrapped QF in the CR for Springers, on the hook. The info I have, has been garnered from the BB over the last year. I've changed the hooks to similar sized or slightly larger owner trebles. I've kept both hooks on but some advocate removing the belly hook. I think most people will tell you that sardine is better, 'cause it is oilier, and stinks more, but herring would work too. I use a 2-4 foot dropper with lead to get it down. Use elastic thread to hold the filet to the plug. I believe the web site "piscatorial pursuits" has a video clip about how to prepare the filet and wrap a QF. Sorry I don't know how provide you a link there, but it shouldn't be hard to find. Hope this helps.

There are a million different ways to skin a flatfish depending on what type of water you're fishing. In the river I like to use a clear bubble diver that goes down to 12' or so with a 30-40" leader to take care of the rest of the depth if needed. If it varies a lot use a drop sinker so you can adjust weights for different holes and depths quickly. On the columbia for springers use roughly 3-4 oz of lead at least and backbounce it away from the boat until it basically plunks the weight on the bottom and stays there.

As of the wraps there are a lot of different opinions on this also, but I like to use the mini-rubber bands used on braces to keep it on. It's quick and stays put with three of them. Both sardines and herring work, but you have to change herring more often due to the scent. I've caught fish with scent and no scent but scent works better by far.

As far as hooks go I would change the trebles to a couple of good quality and razor sharp points. I haven't been sold one way or another about using one or two and I've done some research about it, so I wouldn't sweat it.
