 The Willamette River is producing "already" for bright and shiny Steelhead. An area (Not to de discussed until I spend tomorrow fishin' it!!!) on the Will-Ah-Mettee produced two Beeee--UU---Tifulllll Chromers today, One a "Native" and one a nice 8 pound "Keeper!" There was no one on the beach except Annette and her "Boyfriend" (Mr. Can't say his name becasue EVERYBODY would know who he is and be in "my" secret spot tomorrow before even I get up...) were plunking, "Just for the helluvit" and BAMmmmmmmmm....Twice! With the rain, and all, it's only going to get better...I'm tying up my gear RIGHT NOW! It'll get better, at least until the *******' river muddies up...But, until then...Fish On!

Ken,

You better be careful. After the sewage spill, you might be catching "brown trout" instead of steelhead.

hey, there's no limit on boneless browns in the willamette.

huh, winter steelie plunking getting started already? dang, i might just have to drift the clack this weekend, provided it doesn't muddy up too much with this rain.

Ken:

1) Congrats on the great fish!

2) Hang onto a fish-catching girlfriend! (At least you can always drive the net and everybody will give you at least a little bit of the credit. )

3) Don't repeat ANYTHING you hear from your 15-year-old! Even if it isn't universally, accidentally offensive, you've probably got it 180 degrees backwards from their intended meaning anyway.

Yours truly,

Dad of four

 Just got back from "The Ranch" to see if anyone else was catchin' anything today...Apparently, as I have observed from afar, hee hee, no one is interested because the Steelhead counts are still pretty low, not to mention the water levels, but gaining every day. This rain is perfect, so far, and not too heavy. Don't know if there is enough to drift the Clack but my boat will only make it about 50' past the McLoughlin Bridge then IT becomes an anchor! :depressed: I rigged two poles, shot up to the local waterin' hole for additional info (Which there was NONE!) and I think I should be "All Alone" tomorrow morning. You guys didn't tell anybody, did you..... Dooooooooooah!

graemlins/applause.gif While the Willamette is still clear, the fishing is picking up in the Clackamas River area in the Big Water. The "Brown Stuff" has pretty much washed itself out of the river and the "tinge" on the one Steelie I know about that was caught yesterday was only slight! :depressed:
A little more rain and it's Oficially Steelhead Time on the Willamette. Other rivers to follow!!!
