Statement as of 10:45 am PST on November 7, 2002

...A Coastal Flood Watch Has Been Issued For The Northern And Central Oregon Coast...And The Southern Washington Coast Late Tonight Through Friday Night...

A coastal Flood Watch has been issued for the northern and central Oregon coast... and southern Washington coast late tonight through Friday night. Dangerously large swells from the Pacific are expected to arrive on the coast tonight and Friday. Swells as large as 30 feet are possible along the central Oregon coast during high tide early Thursday morning.

If conditions develop as expected... some coastal flooding is possible along low roads and waysides as well as potential damage to low lying beachfront structures. These powerful waves can easily toss logs and dislodge large debris lying on the beaches.

Businesses and residents in and near the surf zone... and also near bays and estuaries should be alert for the possibility of flooding and very high water surging inland and inundating normally dry areas by taking precautions now.

A coastal Flood Watch means coastal flooding will occur if the weather develops as expected. People in the watch area should be ready to move to higher ground if flooding occurs or if a warning is issued by the National Weather Service.

This watch will be updated by 5 PM PST tonight.

Hogmaster,
Here's a link to the the Kilchis Canyon Weather Station (http://www.ifish.net/Weather/Kilchis.htm) . Looks like almost an inch of rain today. Keep it coming.

Fished upper trask today, Rock Hole, about 20 fish hooked, all black no keepers. River came up about 5 inches since yesterday. 2in. of rain by 8pm. You can not belive the number of fish going up river, great sight. I do belive river will be out by morning. Still raining hard. High tide around 3.30am, with 30 ft swells. We will be going out to Whiskey Creek Hatchery at 3am to keep watch on things. Come on out we will have the coffe pot on. Should be great fishing in a couple of days. Jerry

Many of those fish are probably shooting upstream like an incontinence sufferer rushing for the restroom at a beer festival.

Read the flood watch more carefully. It is for the coastline areas around tidewater, its not for the rivers due to high swell combined with high tide. The rivers will not flood.

Geez, I'm scared.

A couple of weeks ago I shook the rain stick on the rising moon, and now there's flood warnings. The last time I shook it was in '96, and I've been afraid to touch it since then.

S'pose I oughta take it over on the east side and shake it again? Or just let it lie? graemlins/1zhelp.gif
