Interesting.

Absolutely calm and partly sunny here in WL right now...

Calm before the storm!

The rain is starting to show in Downtow PDX finally.

I just checked the National Weather Service site. Looks like the winter rains are finally here.

Jen,

I'm with you on the rain issue. However, if you look at the Wilon River stats on the River Forecast site, the Wilson has risen a mighty .01 inch!!

We need real rain, not just a dew drop. Pray a little harder.

Drove to Tillamook this morning to find that hot bite that was had yesterday. At about milepost 5 the rain comes down like a faucet was turned on, with some wind to help it clear the trees of yellowing leaves. Drove to the Hospital hole and got out to pay the fee getting semi-soaked going the 15 feet to the trailer. The nice lady looks at me and says do you really want to fish? Wind is blowing with gusts to 25mph. I have to get the raingear on and the wind is pretty nasty so I tell her I'll hold off awhile to see if it calms down some. Get back in the rig and drive over to 5th to have a cup of coffee and see if it dies down a bit. Wind starts to let up but the rain keeps coming down though not as fiercely. Hop out and put the raingear/waders on and rig up my bobber while the boats finish putting in. Go on down to Shanes magical spot and work eggs for a few hours until the tide starts pushing my bobber upriver. By this time the nylon waterproof hodgeman raincoat is as wet inside as out along with my coat and shirt. 3 Salmon had been splashing for about an hour but no biters. Noone I talked to had touched a fish by 10:15. The hospital hole was dead and that spot that gave up all those fish yesterday wasn't producing either. Took a drive up the Kilchis to see if it had risen any but it's too soon. Keeps this up today and things will rise. By Sunday everything will be blown if the hard rain keeps pounding Tillamook. Maybe sooner.

The wilson is now at 69 cfs being that the mean for today is 1,266 based on 71 years of data. We've got a way to go to just talk about normal. The river is still rising and the rain will do nothing but good.

I'm just curious if the water doesn't raise too high, will the upper reaches of the rivers need to be closed so we don't have a bunh of yahoo's "fishing" on dark fish trapped in very skinny spawning water.
