So... yesterday Bill and I were supposed to go hit tidewater, in a timely fashion, and bobber fish. I love to bobber fish! It's my passion! It's good for my eyes to watch that bobber go down! It's physically beneficial for me to fight a large salmon! It's healthy for me!
He couldn't sleep the night before, and when morning came, cancelled, due to feeling poorly.
:depressed:  :depressed:
So.... Then, I have to go to the Docs this morning, right? In Portland.
Dudley Nelson calls last night, and I hear them conspiring, and making plans for bobber fishing today.
This morning, half in jest, half reality, I said to him:
"Bill? Take others spinner fishing on the Bay, take them out in the ocean, but don't you EVER go bobber fishing without me!!!!"

His remark?
"I wonder if this is a unique situation, in our household?"
Izzit? Come on, there are other women like this, aren't there? Pilar's Mate? Fishisabonus? Aunty M? Kim?
Come on Girls!
Where are all you gals? We need to start a 'Women for Fishing Rights' activist club!
Now, I hear there are 35 mile per hour winds at the Headlands... (Here, at the Hedlunds, it's only 7..) Have a fun trip, Bill! Wheeeee!
 Tee hee.

Oh! I must agree.
Remember, I went ahead and got a divorce because my X REFUSED to take me fishing. There was never room in the boat. The crowning touch was when he wanted to go to Alaska on a fishing/hunting trip and told me I wasn't invited. graemlins/icon_argue.gif With that, I had it!
If one of the kids are sick, why is it the woman that is automatically elected to stay home with the child?
Equal time fishing for women!

Jennie, I agree 100%. If I can't go, he better not be rubbing it in! He always tells me he would much rather be going with me, but I can't always get off work when he can, so I can't expect him to stay home either!!! Anyway , he better not have too good of a time without me!!

Hmmm... don't know whats worse, I have just the opposite problem. Capn' Toni doesn't really care for fishing and definatley doesn't like the waves and of course I love the Salt. I would love to have her there with me every trip. graemlins/hearton.gif
We're working on a compromise for next year.

My wife hates when I go with others and she has to stay home.I hate it too(but in my defense, most of my trips-maybe 3-4 a year-are in salt-something she has tried and does not like a lot-since we have a drifter the ocean is a bit rough in our boat.So if JB invites me I jump at the chance.)for the rest of the year she is the frontseater in our boat.I row she makes the lunch. She is also the finest front seater I have ever had in the boat.Even other driftboat owners can't match her cat-like reflexes.Especially when the wildly twirling dog adjusts to go back to sleep. She is as good as it gets.

I am lucky if I can get my wife to go fishing with me more than once or twice a year. Once she is there she has loads of fun and is the last one to fold her pole up at dark (hard to get her to leave). Any sugjestions on how to get her more intrested in going, she even has a couple of lady friends who flat out love to go and have begged her to go with them, She has never made a trip with them yet not to sure if she ever will. Just need to find a way to give her the drive to get out the door and go. Would rather take her than anyone, she is more than my wife she is my best friend.

Jen,
The situation is usually reversed here. I can and do go fishing while poor hubby has to work. I was told if I kept that up, hubby would find some other woman to fish with that doesn't make him feel left out.
A 'Women for Fishing Rights' activist club is still a good idea. We need to educate [some of] the opposite sex on how capable we are.
At some point in time, we need to have a ladies flotilla. Of course, we could allow a few "token" males for entertainment purposes.

"We need to educate [some of] the opposite sex on how capable we are."
Auntie M, I'll help you educate some of the opposite sex
Police warn all clubbers, partygoers and unsuspecting pub regulars to be
alert and stay cautious when offered a drink from any woman.
An insidious date **** drug called "beer" is being used by many females to target unsuspecting men.
It diminishes judgment and visual acuity and increases libido to a dangerous level.
The drug is generally found in liquid form, comes in a variety of attractive colors from green to red, but usually golden yellow and brown,
and is now available almost anywhere. It comes in bottles, cans, from taps and in large "kegs."
"Beer" is used by female sexual predators at parties and bars to persuade their male victims to go home and have sex with them. Typically, a woman
needs only to persuade a guy to consume a few units of "beer" and then simply ask him home for supposedly no strings attached sex. Men are rendered helpless against this approach. After several "beers" men will often succumb to desires to perform sexual acts on women to whom they would never normally be attracted.
After drinking "beer" men often awaken with only hazy memories of exactly what happened to them the night before, often with just a vague feeling
that something very bad occurred. At times these unfortunate men are swindled out of their life's savings in a progressive scam known as "a relationship."
It has been reported that in extreme cases, the female may even be shrewd enough to entrap the unsuspecting male into a longer term form of servitude and structured punishment referred to as "marriage." Apparently, men are much more susceptible to this scam after "beer" is administered and sex is offered by the predatory female.
However, if you fall victim to this insidious "beer" and the predatory women administering it, there are male support groups with venues in every
town where you can discuss the details of your shocking encounter in an open and frank manner with similarly affected, like minded guys.
For the support group nearest you, just look up "Fishing Guides or Boat Dealers" in the yellow pages.

Well this is a good topic, because my wife(Flasher) will only stay home when the weather is really cold, and that's only due to a medical reason. We truly love going out fishing together, and she usually trolls me into fish. She is getting really good at trolling, running the boat around the big water, and running the boat up on the trailer. She plug cuts herring, ties her own gear, pulls anchor, makes our lunches, My Gosh I Think She's a Keeper!!!!  Besides that she is my best friend, and I Love Her More than Anything!!
I'm sure she would be real interested in the Womens Fishing Rights Club. More power to the Gals who love to fish!!!
excuse me

Jennie:
I have the opposite situation because my wife does not like to fish. If she did that would be great. For men like your husband Jen, that doesn't respect your wish to fish with him every chance that comes along, I guess he needs to learn to appreciate his situation better. Women that want to fish and still do lots of work too just don't grow on trees! He better wake up. I would take you fishing except my wife would not consider that proper. So I honor that.
Myles:
My wife didn't say I couldn't drink beer with the guys on occasion though. Where are these dangerous predator type females hanging out, so I can avoid the pratfalls of such a risky adventure?
Jennie - my wife hates to fish. Just another thing that we don't share in common. I think your husband needs to get a clue as to what a great 'catch' you are. Besides, he may regret not taking you later in life.
I am only looking at this one issue and do not want to sound like I am 'bashing him'. I am sure you have a gem there....just needs a bit more polish.

I wish my wife would go fishing with me. I have managed to get her into the boat: while on the trailer in the driveway
Maybe next year during shad season, sometime warm and almost guaranteed to catch fish.

Fine!
I can relate to some of those, but not all.
Bill took Jennie bobber fishing!
Bill misread the tides.
Bill took Jennie at the wrong tide.
Bill got Jennie onto the river just as the bite ended.
Bill asked Jennie. "What is wrong?"
NOTHING.
"Well, next time, I'll just go without you."
GO AHEAD! (normal eyebrows)
"I'm really sorry I didn't read the tides right."
THAT'S OK.
"Well! I think I'm going to just take the boat out right now!!!"
GO AHEAD! (raised eyebrows)
At some point in the near, future, Bill is going to be in some mighty big trouble.
This really didn't happen, but... it could have!
LOUD SIGH
