View Full Version : NFR heating up on the fishing board.

We have witnessed a dramatic increase in NFR (Non fishing related) posts on the fishing board at ifish.
During slow times of fishing, it is likely that we all want to share NFR topics with our best buddies here. This is natural, and great... but, it makes it really difficult for the fishing minded to wade through things to get to what this board was created for.
During times of political activity, we all get revved up, too.
I made a concerted effort to move the General Community up a couple notches so that it is more accessable. This was an effort to help us all use it more frequently, and save this board for fishing.
I hear alot of complaints that people get more notice here. Yeah, true, but if we ALL used the Life in General board too, that would make it more popular, right? It would get seen just as much. We just need to learn to click there too!
One topic we did agree that was OK for this board, was a few sports topics, now and then. I'm not sure why we decided that, except they are just so darned popular and fun!
If we could all keep NFR mostly on the Life in General board it would sure be helpful.
Let's all use it more often. I promise to check it every day if you do too! Post fun things, helpful things, interesting topics! It'll be a great break, in between casts on the fishing board.
Thanks,
(OOPS! Wait a minute! This message is NFR!)

It's fishing-related because the NFR posts drive the FR posts off of the front page.

I won't move the post this time.

Fishfull Thinking - Nice try, but this is still Jennie's house and Jennie gets to make the rules. Jennie also gets to break the rules or change the rules. This is fair because it is Jennie's house. She paid the cost to be the boss.

Most of the time, Jennie plays by the same rules that the guests play by because she is a considerate person. This is strictly voluntary on her part.

You don't have a problem with that.

Crabbait - You get to be like the XO speaking for the Captain in international waters.

The brig, bread and water.

Of course you Zoomie guys had to go to sea to know what I am talking about.

Aye aye sir

Short and sweet: I was late getting back to the ship from a party with Miramar friends and was afraid that if I parked in enlisted parking (E-5) I would not make muster (1/2 mile hike). I parked my little sportscar in Officers country and just was able to get into a set of dungarees in time to make the count. (vistors parking pass on the car since we were moored at North Island for just a few days)

Met by the SPs when I went to retrieve my car. They wrote down my ID number and let me go on my way.

Notified on Tue that I was on the list for Captain's Mast on Thur (XO). Went in to see the Old Man who was someone I had hoisted a few on the beach with and was an all around OK guy. "Did you park in Officers Country last Monday?" "Yes sir" "Why did you park in Officers Country?" "No excuse, sir" "Do you know who's spot you were in, Petty Officer?" "No sir, XO" "You were in my spot, son." D'OH!!!!

He let me go with an admonishment to get back to the ship in time to make the hike from enlisted parking. "Aye Aye, SIR!"

Periwinkle, LMAO - that was a good one! Crabbait, I was only taking a playful jab at the NFR remark in relation to the comments about NFR on the PGE/PUC topic being here as well! Me thinks we all knows who da boss is around here and "she" makes the rules!
