If anyone is interested in expressing their opinion to the PUC regarding the generous
decrease offer :depressed: by PGE of 1%, use link below. (No reference to ifish)
The increase last year was 31%. My brain was
renewed on this by the extremely expensive bill I received for August when using a fan during our hot weather.....we helped pay for California,....

puc.commission@state.or.us

Every little bit helps......soon. It is currently in discussion.

Thanks for the link! I will be using it.

I was insulted when I heard about the proposed 1% rate reduction. I feel that there are probably some PGE employees that will be implicated in the recent Enron related rate manipulations and they will be headed for jail time.

We knew at the time when our rates were increasing 30+% that we were getting hosed!!! I am hoping that justice is finally catching up with the corporate fraud that was paid for by us rate payers!!!!!!!!

Posh II, "paying for California" is only part of the equation here. Enron was HUGELY responsible for the situation in California. Remember back a couple weeks ago that it was a Portland based Enron energy trader who pleaded GUILTY to helping manipulate the energy market. They did that by making energy trades of power, diverting it from California markets trades causing the fabricated shortages and then selling it back into California markets at hugely profitable prices.

And also, in case you didn't know it Enron owns PGE! PGE is Portland General Electric, not to be confused with PG&E (Pacific Gas and Electric) So, Enron was largely responsible for the current energy problems and the thing that sucks is that PGE is still benefitting from the crimes commited by it's own owner! And who's paying for it? We are! So Enron is still ultimately the cause for our high prices in Portland and the Public Utility Commision, who sets the rates isn't doing right by the consumers by making them lower the rates to where they should be. Enron is the biggest corporate criminal in our country's history in my opinion.

Good topic.......but not fishing related. I think this one would look good in the General Forum.

For those of you who have not visited this part of the site, it contains threads like this of general interest to all but not fishing related. I will leave it here for now.

I didn't post this to initiate a long discussion on PGE.
I feel it is more important than Beavers win..Ducks lose. However, I really don't care if a subject is totally out of the proper page. If I don't want to read a subject, I don't click on it. I indicated this was non fishing and probably an area where people didn't realize they could give feedback via email and since it is currently being looked at now.
Just wanted to share this info for those who were unaware and get the biggest audience which does not come close to the number of readers in the other forum.

This is a result of my call to the PUC today and was told this is the specific email for the stated purpose of letting them know how one feels.

Posh II - I understand what you are saying and left it here so that it would get wider distribution, at least for the moment.

Looks like the PUC is making PGE do a 12% cut. It doesn't get back that 31% increase from last year but it's a far cry better than 1%.

Story here (http://www.katu.com/news/story.asp?ID=51665).

Crabbait- How bout this to make this "fishing related" so the thread can stay here: I couldn't fish this week 'cause I'm stuck down here in California because of their BOTCHED deregulation of the power industry? I work in the energy industry and helping the California side of my company deal with their plan to come out of chapter 11. Being a network geek, I get to help design the computer network of what's left when they come out of chapter 11 hopefully soon! So, instead of fishing this week, I'm stuck in this dang hotel room in San Francisco! At least there's good food here since I can't fish. And I'm back home tomorrrow so I get to fish this weekend!

Besides, Jenn's thread on the leatherman isn't fishing related and you didn't pester her for it    Gee, how come?

Hey Skrimmy...dropping to 26-28 tonight! I want to save every dime I can on heat. This is a little early in the year. Some little fishies are going to have mighty cold tails.

Posh II, that means some fishermen (scuze me, fisherpeople) are going to have some cold tails too! I'd tell you to turn up the heat, but that wouldn't help my paycheck cause the company I work for just transports power through the Oregon into California, so it has no impact on Oregons power market. So, hope that it gets cold down here instead! Geez, it was nice in SF today! But I still can't wait to get home tomorrow! Cold or not.....it's always nice to get back to Oregon! We still have lower power rates than they have in CA!
