About 4 years ago my wife gave me an Apellco VHF 501 marine Radio. They were about $190 at the time. Mine is on the fritz and in need of repair. I tried calling the numbers on the box and instructions to find NO ANSWER cause it's been DISCONNECTED.
I know that this was originally a Ratheon Company product but I can find no information as to who, what, when, or where to contact.
I took the radio out to fisherman's and they were no help at all :hoboy: Anybody here have any helpful suggestions? Thanks.

Took my Radio to Rodgers Marine Electronics on Marine Dr. in Portland. They were very nice and after checking it out for free told me there was nothing wrong with it. Just that some "Dummy" had put the wrong size fuse in. Duh! May try them they were very nice and didnt rib me too much about it.

Bernie: what's wrong with the radio. Is it a transmit or a receive problem?
If it is a transmit, you may want to check the wires in the mic.
I had a problem with my radio and it was a broken wire in the mic which I fixed myself.
If its a receive, then check the antenna connections.

Probably the best marine radio, gps, vhf, radar, etc, store in town is:
Rodgers Marine Electronics
3445 NE Marine Drive.
Their number is: 503-287-1101
These guys work on the HUGE cruisers around town, right on down to boats like my little Duckworth. Totally knowledgable and fai...But not entirely cheap. Worth a call or just to drop in to see all of their displays of every kind of marine electronic equipment you can ever dream of. I go there and do just that. DREAM! $$$

Rodgers is very good. View Web page here Rodgers Marine Electronics (http://www.rodgersmarine-e.com/)
We took one of our handheld Apelcos to West Marine a few years ago. They were helpful too. They sent it back to the factory for warrenty covered repairs.
