I know most trout lakes close this Thursday. However, me and a couple of buddies are looking for a place to go to that is still open and has good fall fishing. Is Paulina, or Crain Prarie still open. Thanks in advance for any help.

Maybe it would be better to go down to one of the costal lakes (warmer weather) and chase some Bass. Still there has to be some legally available large Trout cruising for food before winter hits somewhere.

I have heard that Klamath Lake fishes well in the fall. I don't know when it closes so check the regs. I fished there in July and landed a 10+lb rainbow and many fish in the 2-4lb range trolling and flyfishing. I over heard some guys down there talking that they were bird hunting down there last October but the fishing was so good they barely went hunting.
If you want details email me. Rocky Point Resort has a nice moorage and cabins for rent.

If u want to drive a ways try Chickahominy Res (or Chicken Hominy as the old timers call it) just west of Burns. Usually some very good fishing during the fall. I think Paulina and Craine Prairie both close this week. Nothing like watching the Kokanee spawning in Craine Prarie
I would also reccomend Mann Lake on the east side of the Steens but now THAT is a drive!
Good luck

Forget what I said about Chickahominy, I just read the water levels were very low this summer so most of the fish were killed off........tooo bad

Check your regs on this, but I think all trout lakes are open year round. Its only the rivers and streams that close to trout in the winter.

Tenmile Lake is open all year. There should be some good fishing down there. And I know there are big trout in there because I have caught 5 pounders!!!!!

I was going to go to East & Paulina lakes this week, BUT, they are closed after Thursday. It is very cold there as I believe they are at the 6000 ft. level. There is no ice, yet, but make sure your battery's are fresh and charged...It'll be in the teens the next several nights. Most inland lakes are closed for trout. Some of the best all around fishing is just South of Florence. I like to spend several days at Siltcoos Lake. The Bass are hot right now and there is always BIG trout there. I mean 18"-20" average and these are HEFTY fish with bright red firm meat. B.I.G.! Also Lake Takenitch, just South of Siltcoos. Once you fish there, though, you have to forget where these lakes are in the future, because they're "my" secret spot!!! Check the Fishing Regs...It has all the lakes and when they're open and/or closed!!! Good luck!

Try Cultus Lake or Crescent lake before winter comes on strong. The Mackinaw come to the shallow water in the fall and are easier to catch.Crescent also has some nice size Brown trout.I have a trip planned for Crescent in two weeks if it doesn't snow to much.

There is still quite a bit of algae in Klamath Lake but the temp should be good for catching large trout getting fat for winter. I will try to get a lake temp today.
Crescent Lake should be good now but the air is !!!COLD!!! up there. It was 15 degrees in KF when I got up (05:00).

Detroit is open all year long. The drop of the water to maintain river levels and enable them to handle the snow melt makes it a bit tough to launch. It may be a bit sloppy at Mongold. Have heard they are slaying them...
