I was just told that starting November 1, 2002 through March 15, 2003 the removal of selective gear rules on the East Fork Lewis River.
That means that we can use bait.
As anyone been told this to?
Oh boy, I just can't wait till the winter steelhead start to show.

The water is very very low and warm, it would be nearly impossible to release a nate safely in those types of conditions. Hopefully people wont go crazy because of the change of regs and start fishing right away. Wait for the rains, and fresh fish.......

the East Fork may be low but it certainly is not warm.. fish away.. all the wild fish will be way upstream in the closed waters catch and kill any hatchery fish you can find there..

And... we're talking about steelhead here people. NOT salmon. I see cars there everyday, and I just wonder what they might be keeping. Hopefully steelhead and not salmon. They better be able to identify their species!

oh god, I hope that they are not keeping them black salmon in the East fork. Leave all salmon alone in the East Fork. Also you may not fish for salmon in the East Fork.

Oh Good
Now I can guide folks on the East Fork and use bait again. I guess that the huge run of Native 20+ lb Steelhead have returned and the Native run is in excellent shape.
By God Its a MIRACLE.
Yeah Right !

KF85,
It also sounds like the river will also close from March 15th thru June 15th to allow smolt passage. I am sad because May is my favorite time to fish the E. Fork, and I don't use bait!
