Anyone have an opinion or experience placing a compass on an open tiller steer sled? I don't think I want it sitting aside me in a rod tray and behind me seems awkward. I am looking at a dash mount placed in the upper part of the seat box in front of where I sit or stand. I think it has to be big enough to read so the 2" face seems small. I did find a 2 3/4" unit on the internet.
Just don't want to trust the GPS as my only source for direction.

Airguide (I beleive ) makes a model for a tiller steering setup. North is adjusted 90 degrees so that it is mounted on the left side of your boat. It is specifically made for this application.
The one I have is mounted under the gunwale, directly across from where I operate the tiller. They are somewhat expensive ($ 75-80) but seem appropriate for this application. I could provide you with model# if you want to email me.

Tilla ..... A compass for the Bazooba Boat? Why not get a tilt meter too so you can see whether or not the shiny side is up?

Thumper.
When you have a Bazooba boat with a 7' wide bottom there is no tilt. Everyone is invited to the side to see the fish netted! And a Bazooba boat will find it's way past those foggy jetty tips on occasion. graemlins/eek13.gif And if that ain't enough it'll float on wet gravel! (Even with my eyes closed)
