Saturday and Sunday we fished the Umpqua down by Reedsport. Today the fish checker reported 15 total with 5 being chinook. We saw three caught up by the elk viewing area, all within about 15 minutes around 2:20pm - just about exactly high slack. Two of 'em went back in, and the other one was a pretty decent chinook. Our boat didn't touch a fish all day. Altogether pretty skinny, but beautiful down there with all the fall colors along the river.
Yesterday (Sat) we saw a few more caught, but not many kept. We brought two nate's to the boat, one of which was absolutely chrome. One came to a purple label herring, the other to a big Teespoon. We didn't have to touch either one of them with a net, and they swam away in good shape. At least ya gotta feel good about that.
I think I'm gonna go chuker hunting until we get some rain.
