Participated in my first Salmon Hog Invitational Tournement on Fri and Sat. This was the 15th annual and over the last 9 years this fine group of anglers has raised over $15,000 (if I remember right, help me here Jerry) for the Whiskey Creek Hatchery. What a fun time we had. As team captain and boat mom, when I put my team together this year, I carefully selected two team members that I felt would help me put together a winning team. I choose Jeff of the be like Jeff club due to the fact that he was due for a good Tillamook season after poor performances these last few years and my friend Mark P, past guide and expert fisherman (however we will not talk about his boating skills) and we were fortunate enough to out fish some great teams and come in Second. Jeff really stepped up on the second day and almost carried our team, which was fortunate as my contrubution was limited to expert leadership and stimulating conversation. It's hard to make all the decisions, the sandwitches and still catch fish. However Second place was not bad for our first showing in this tournement that is filled with many many very good salmon fisherman. What a great time and nice to be able to help raise money for such a great cause.
There is a possibility that I may have an opening next year (send me the da## entry fee money Jeff) and I will be accepting resume's for team Blind Squirrels during the months of Feb and March.
Overall the fishing ws not very good, most teams were fishless and I would say that tidewater is spotty at best. Hopefully it will start filling up with fish soon.

Hey Wiz,
It's possible I may have an opening on team Blind Squirrels for next year. Two questions:
Do you pay your obligations and can you hook 4 in one day when most everyone else is blanking?

I hope to fish on Steve's aka. (Walfare child) team next year. With the following changes:
1. We will take a 8 x 12 picture of "Steve" and tape to the back of one of the boat seat. This way we can count on the same level of participation from Steve we had this year.
2. Special thanks go to Mark's wife who was with us on Saturday. Without her we would of listened to Steve and been fishless. We hope to have her show next year with some improvement on her boating skills. Although, our hot tip came to Mark when he was high and dry on the Roy creek gravel bar. ???
3. RE: the $80.00 I owe Steve aka. "The Welfare Child" for the tourney. " I hope he will find comfort with the 2nd prize (Penelton Wool) blanket wrapped around him as he waits by the mail box for my check". I gave the "walfare child" half my fish and eggs as, so he would not go home empty handed as usual.
4. Note: to self. " be like Jeff".

Congrats Fishbait.
My team also took second place in the **** three years ago in our first attempt. 4 fish also. Funny though, we got skunked the next year! Hope your luck is 1 fish worse than mine next year!

Steve - Nice to see your streak is still in tact. Even catching no fish, you exceeded my expectations from you.
Jeff performed exactly as I figured he would. Under pressure and with his gold plated bobber he carried the dead weight, and on his team there was plenty of dead weight to be carried.
I expected more from Mark. :depressed: I guess he still got twice as many as you if he got 0.
You would think that with your dismal performance,.... fishing ( and otherwise  ) you would be happy to pay the heavy weights $80 entry fee.
note to self: check on application to "I wanna be like Jeff fan club"

Roy,
Just send in $80.00 with you application and I will see that it gets expedited.
After the last few years of his dismal performace in tidewater, it was nice to finally see Jeff have a good day. Needless to say there was some verbal abuse to be taken.

Roy, I will cover you for the $80.00 if you would like to fish on my team next year. I will call the board personally and expidite your membership request for the (be like Jeff club). There will soon be an open slot. I am sending Steve a " Letter of Termination" revoking his offficer status (VP) in the (Be like Jeff club). Reason code 2347 - Failure to perform, 2348 - offering bad advice - and 2356 & 2677 eating ding dongs from my cooler and forgeting his rain coat. Steve is just not "Jeff material".

I fished on the Local Yokels Team. We should have won, one problem, I was still trying to get my 62lber. for the year. The little 40lber. I had on I tried to hard to hurry it in, because I knew it was not 62,pulled the hook. My team mates tried with a 28.5and a 26.5. Good time had by all. The figgure of $$ donated to the Whiskey Creek Hatchery over the past 15 years is $23,???.00, plus this year, which we won't know for a couple of weeks. A big thank you from Tillamook Anglers to Gary Benson and crew, also the folks who donated items. See all next year. Jerry
Gee Fishbait, Does Gary Benson know you had a woman on your team? I believe his view of women in this tourney is "over my dead body". RW

Hey RW. How the H--- are you? I thought we fought that battle last year, or was it two years ago? You know how it is at 64, I can't rember what goes first=-=-=-=-pkj34-043=tr=o or is it -88306kmdkl2303=2 oh well. Hope all is well with you.
Jerry, I am not fighting a battle, I just asked a simple question. Based on Bensons' previous statements I was surprised to see a woman on a team. I still wish an organization that helps groups as yourself would invite all anglers who want to help good causes as your organization, and not base entry qualifications on whether you have a ******* This is not a battle I choose to spearhead, but still enjoy free speech rights to object.
Other than that, I am GREAT! Loving life and my husband. I wouldn't trade my spot for anything. Tell you wonderful wife I say hi. Regards, RW.
p.s. 67???? On your next birthday, your wife is going to have to trade you in for two 34 year olds!

Fishbaits team consisted of:
Fishbait (Steve Salveson), Cheerleader and net b**ch. graemlins/berry.gif
Jeff Melberg - The famous, fish hooking, fish landing machine. Jeff felt like a mule when the tourney was over as he had to carry the team from the starting line to the finish line.
Mark Plummer - Master chef and fishing extrordanaire.

Lance Deuth....Bryan Irwin....and Nick....?
Sorry Nick, I always forget your last name. I'm a loser, what can I say?
These boys squeeked by with 5 fish, by fishing the Nestucca Tidewater.
2nd Place team had 4 fish, caught in the Tillamook River on Kwikfish.

I talked with Lance last night and I guess that Brian would have caught more fish if he wouldn't have tripped on Nick's phonebooks.

Correction:
The second place team, Team Blind Squirrels did turn in 4 fish, we caught a total of 4 on bobbers, released two and caught 2 on Wigglies. And Jerry is right, the big winner is Tillamook Anglers and the Whisky Creek Hatchery.

Big Willie - do we have to wait for Brian to go and drink Lance's beer?
I might have an interest in the 17 footer - Let me know -
