I hope tihis doesn't start as big a discussion as drift boat/jet but slow pie and I are in the market for a vacuum packer. Any suggestions?

Spend the $$$ and get a good one. I got a cheapo and hate it. The sealer gets hot and seals to quick before all the air gets sucked out.

I think we all have gone the cheap way, and are sorry. This past year a group of 12 of us went together and bought a professional vac. packer. Cost $1500.00, worth every cent. We also had donated to our group about 150 cases of 5mill vac bags. If you were to buy them they are $250.00 per thousand. We could make you a very good deal on bags. Email me. Jerry

I think there's some good discussions on this in the archives that you might want to search out.

We bought a Tilla Foodsaver 1050 for (I think) $165 at Fred Meyers. It works pretty well other than you have to really keep the open edge dry to ensure a good seal.

We had a bad experience purchasing one from Best Buy - best stay away from that place!

We have the Magic Vac Maxima. We bought it at the State Fair 5 years ago and have had no problems at all. Very happy with it.

I have a foodsaver and have had no complaints with it. We have had it for a number of years and just about wore it out. I got mine at Bimart. Because you are a locale boy i.e. from Vernonia if you want to see one in use your are welcome to come see and use mine.

Tilla Professional II can be ordered from an outfit in Canada for about $230 (delivered).
I'm out of town right but email me at:
vinnys@valint and I'll look up the name of the place where I got mine.
They were recommended to me be someone on this board and I found them great to deal with. I had it in about 4 days.

I just got a Food Saver at Walmart. They were only $95. I was so tickled. That was about $40 cheaper than anywhere else I had seen them. It is a simple basic model, but it does what I want it to do. I love it.
