Last February I bought a new Eon reel over the Internet. This is the new one from Abu Garcia that has the "inline planetary gearing system." Although I'm left handed, I've usually used right handed reels. But I ordered this new Eon in the LH model. It just never felt right so I sold it to a fellow ifisher. I'd only used it a couple of times and never had any problem, but the ifisher I sold it to contacted me a few days later and said the crank wouldn't engage the retrieve and he wanted to send it back to me.
So, I sent back his check, and he sent me back the reel, and sure enough, it wouldn't engage without touching the release lever. Don't know why, but no big deal. I wrote Abu Garcia a letter and sent the reel back since it was still under warranty. I asked them to repair it, but also told them I'd prefer to have a RH model since it didn't feel comfortable. I also told them if they could send back a RH version I'd be happy to pay some unspecified amount, since I was the one who made the mistake of ordering a LH model in the first place. :rolleyes:
I sent the reel, with letter enclosed (and a copy of the email confirmation the .com had sent me) back to Abu Garcia nine days ago, not expecting to hear anything for several weeks.
I stopped by the PO this afternoon on the way back from the river and there it was..... a brand new RIGHT handed Eon, No Charge!! And this one works great! A very nice surprise!!!
Now that's what I call GREAT customer service!! They've got my business...... :cheers:
