I'm an Oregon angler. How close can I fish to the Washington tributaries of the Columbia? Is the State line in the middle of the Columbia River shipping channel? Can I fish the Washington side, if so, how close?

Graybeard, The Columbia is open to both Oregon and Washington anglers. You can fish from a boat right up to the edge. You can't however get out on the Washington bank and fish. Also you can't fish up into they're rivers without a Washington license that is. Hope this helps.

An Oregon angler can launch a boat at a Washington ramp, fish the Washington side of the Columbia River, punch a fish on his Oregon tag, and take back out at the Washington ramp. As long as the fish you caught was open in Wahington waters there's no problem. You are not able to fish in a Washington river though without a Washington license. Above Bonneville the railroad bridges normally are the boundry between the Columbia and the Wind, or the White Salmon River, etc. Below Bonneville you just need to learn what marks the boundry.

Thanks gh, I thought that was the rule, but I started reading the Sport Fishing Regulations and it just made me more confused.
