Jennie,
The Fisherman's Shack was robbed again last night. This time they cleaned out the rods actually on the shelves and all of the reels. They focused mainly on the high end bass stuff. It looks like they got another 60 to 70 total poles plus the reels. Would you please let your members know about this and have them keep an eye out. This makes close to 140 loomis rods stolen from a small business in the last six weeks.
Don Greene (owner) has offered up a 5,000.00 reward for information leading to the recovery of the merchandise. If anyone has any information they can contact him at 503 838 6395.
Thank you,
Kevin Marshall

No insurance and no alarm?
I don't know if publicizing that he's such an easy mark is such a good thing, but I hope that the rods are returned and that the perps are caught. :depressed:

Who could possibly have the ability to liquidate 150 fishing poles and reels? I dont understand this kind of theft. I could see a thief being able to pawn a few here and there but not in large quantities without causing suspicion. I could see a thief selling them off piece meal to a few buddies and then thru word of mouth selling some more but this would be real risky and anyone with half a brain would'nt sell by word of mouth without the constant fear of being caught. Ebay would be a good place but still....unless they get shipped out of state and then sold thru an accomplice or several accomplices it would take alot of time. Curious, very curious........

Maybe someone else is stocking their store with his stock?

I feel awful about the theft, but I am left wondering... How does he have so many? That's a bunch of inventory!!!
I don't even think Fishermen's carries that many rods, do they? That's 18k or so, wholesale value! WOW!
How did they get away with so many?
I bet, if anything, these rods are heading to bass country.
It's all very curious to me.
I'd sure like to help in any way I can, and I'll keep my eyes out for anything usual coming this way.

we stock quite a few rods and blanks in our shop (yes we have insurance and an alarm) 30-50 rods max.. that's a lot of rods.. it takes me hours to pack up for a show.. where I my take 30-50 rods.. the guys who broke in had some time!
its to bad.. rods and even banks are expensive.. it doesnt take much stock to get up in the $10K-$15K range...

I feel very bad for his loss, I hope they catch these Crooks.
My dad has a invention that he is working on and it will be every sportsmans "gotta Have" that will hopefully put a end to theives stealing and getting away with it.
I am thankful i live in a thief free neighborhood, like a idiot i ran out of my garage heading for the beach for 3 days and forgot to close and lock the garage door.
When I was getting back, heading around the corner and look at my house and the garage door was wide open my heart dropped and I thought i was robbed. I go in and check everything in the garage and inside the house and it was all right where i had left it.
Then the weekend after that I locked everything up real tight, even the keys to the truck and the house. Boy did i feel stupid when I had to figure out how to break into my own home.I really need to slow down.

No Insurance with that kind of stock? graemlins/stupid.gif
I would be leaving a big dog to keep an eye on things during the night if I couldnt afford insurance and/or an alarm.
I hope the owner figures out how to set a leg hold bear trap so next time the thieves visit they are rolling around on the floor in pain when the owner gets to work to open up.

Wow what is this shop owner thinking? My 140 lb. Rott "Peaches" eats alot of dog food but, she is cheap insurance and fun to have around too. I have insurance but she is instant karma for anyone comming in the yard or house for anyone she doesn't know or like.
What is that old saying fool me once shame on you. Fool me twice shme on me.

Maybe someone should occasionally monitor ebay, just in case, I always see loomis rods for sale there. Who knows maybe the thief is just that stupid to post them there.

Sorry about his loss, hope they catch those responsible.
On another note, why would he have that many bass rods? Is this not Salmon-Steelhead territory?
