I took my six year old to the samish river hatchery yesterday to VIEW the kings. Lots of fish there and some spawning on both sides of the hatchery fall....anyway I located a spawning pair and while I was watching a 6 to 8 pound green backed fish approached from under some brush..at first I thought it was a silver til I watched it for a while it was waiting for the salmon to release its eggs and had some faint red color to it with spots on its sides. the water was just swirling to much to get a good look...Ive caught some nice cuts near were I sight this fish but never over 3 pounds....
